LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the 571113 MEGA STEP is designed for 2011 and newer GM extended cab and crew cab pickups. However, if you have a 1500 truck, you will need the supplied angle bracket (Item #17) to assemble the load reaction bolt to the front brackets. Confirm your truck is an extended cab or crew cab model, as the rear bracket configuration differs between these two cab styles.
The rear outboard cab mounting bracket installation differs. On extended cab models, the rear outboard bracket (Items #6 and #7) is mounted to the rear inboard bracket (Item #8) using the holes shown in Figure 2. On crew cab models, the same brackets are mounted using the holes shown in Figure 3. All other installation steps are identical. Both configurations use 3/8" black zinc plated bolts (Item #15), washers (Item #12), and serrated flange nuts (Item #13).
Yes. If you are mounting the 571113 MEGA STEP on a 1500 truck, you must assemble the load reaction bolt to the front brackets using the supplied angle bracket (Item #17), as shown in Figure 1. This is a required modification for 1500 models only.
The kit includes mounting brackets (front, center, and rear for both left and right sides), load reaction studs and hardware, the step board assembly (sold separately), fasteners, washers, and an angle bracket for 1500 trucks. See the Service Parts List for the complete inventory of 20 items, including part numbers and quantities. The step board assembly itself (Item #1) is sold separately and length varies by application.
The manual does not specify required tools. Contact the manufacturer or an authorized installer for a complete tool list.
The manual does not specify whether battery disconnection is required. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified installer for guidance on electrical safety precautions.
Read the instructions completely and verify that all required parts listed on the Service Parts List are on hand before starting installation. The manual emphasizes this as the first step to avoid delays during assembly.
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (Item #14), install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a black 3/8" flat washer (Item #12) and rubber cushion washer (Item #11) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) backwards near the bottom of the threads.
The load reaction stud assemblies attach to the body mount brackets. Insert the stud from the inboard (frame side) through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the body brackets that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a black flange nut (Item #13) on the outboard end of the stud and finger tighten it initially.
Remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side of the vehicle at a time. Install the front mounting brackets (Items #2 and #3) to the front cab mount and leave finger tight. Install the center mounting brackets (Items #4 and #5) to the center cab mount and leave finger tight. Install the rear inboard mounting bracket (Item #8) and washer (Item #16) to the rear cab mount and leave finger tight. For extended cab models, attach the rear outboard bracket using Figure 2 holes; for crew cab models, use Figure 3 holes. All fasteners remain finger tight until final tightening.
Insert three 5/16" square head screws (Item #9) in the center slot on the underside of the step. Position the step on the mounting brackets so the square head screws are located in the center two slots of the brackets. Center the step front to back on the cab. Locate the step in and out as desired, then install 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #10) on the square head screws and tighten them.
Adjust the load reaction stud assembly so the rubber washer is firm against the side of the frame, then tighten the flange nuts on either side of the step mounting bracket flange. Finally, tighten the body mount bolts per the manufacturer's specifications. The manual does not provide specific torque values; contact the manufacturer for the correct torque specification.
Due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing the body mount bolts to reduce the risk of causing damage to the threaded inserts inside the vehicle. Take your time and apply steady pressure to avoid stripping the internal threads.
The manual does not mention drilling. The installation uses factory body mount bolt holes and pre-drilled bracket holes. If drilling is required for your specific application, contact the manufacturer or a qualified installer.
The manual does not provide specific torque values for any fasteners. It states to tighten the body mount bolts per the manufacturer's specifications but does not list those values. Contact CURT Manufacturing or your vehicle manufacturer for the correct torque specifications for all fasteners.
The load reaction studs (Item #14) are 3/8-16 UNC, double-ended, steel, 4.50" long, black zinc plated. They are used with 3/8" serrated flange nuts (Item #13), 3/8" flat washers (Item #12), and rubber cushion washers (Item #11).
The step mounting screws are 5/16" square head screws (Item #9), 5/16-18 UNC. Three screws are inserted in the center slot on the underside of the step and secured with 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #10).
The rear outboard cab mounting brackets are attached using 3/8" black zinc plated bolts (Item #15), 3/8-16 x 1.00, with 3/8" flat washers (Item #12) and 3/8" serrated flange nuts (Item #13). These bolts are tightened after installation.
The rubber cushion washers (Item #11) are 0.354" ID x 1.00" OD x 0.75" thick. Six washers are included in the kit. The end of the load reaction stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16".
The manual does not specify post-installation checks or inspection procedures. Contact the manufacturer for recommended inspection steps and any maintenance intervals.
The manual does not specify maintenance intervals or retorque schedules. Contact the manufacturer for recommended maintenance and inspection intervals.
The 571113 fits 2011 and newer GM extended cab and crew cab pickups. If you have a 1500 truck, you will need the included angle bracket (Item #17) for the front brackets.
No. The step board assembly (Item #1) is sold separately. The kit includes all mounting brackets, fasteners, and hardware needed to attach a step board.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side of the vehicle at a time, then install the mounting brackets in their place. Use caution on 2010+ Silverado/Sierra models due to excessive thread locker.
Yes, the rear bracket configuration differs. Extended cab models use Figure 2 holes; crew cab models use Figure 3 holes. All other installation steps are identical.
The manual does not mention drilling. Installation uses factory body mount holes and pre-drilled brackets. Contact the manufacturer if drilling is needed for your application.
The manual does not provide torque specifications. It references manufacturer's specs for body mount bolts but does not list values. Contact CURT Manufacturing or your vehicle manufacturer for correct torque values.
