LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the 571743 MEGA STEP is designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD Crew Cab and Double Cab pickups with gas or diesel engines. It is a body mount application with no drilling required. However, if you have a 1500 pickup, you will need to attach an additional small 90° bracket (Item #16) to the front brackets during installation.
The 571743 is primarily designed for 2500/3500HD models. If you have a 1500 pickup, you must attach an additional small 90° bracket (Item #16) to the front brackets (Items #2 and #4) during assembly. The manual notes this as a required modification for 1500 applications, but does not provide additional fitment details for that truck class.
Yes. The 571743 is a no-drill application. It uses the factory body mount locations (front, center, and rear) and does not require any drilling into the vehicle frame or body.
The kit includes: front mounting brackets (left and right), front inboard brackets, center mounting brackets (left and right), rear mounting brackets (left and right), rear inboard mounting brackets, load reaction studs with hardware, rubber washers, flat washers, serrated flange nuts, hex head screws, 90° brackets (for 1500 applications), and additional flat washers for the rear mounting. A complete parts list with part numbers and quantities is provided in the manual. The step boards themselves are not listed and are installed per separate instructions.
The manual does not specify whether step boards are included. The brackets are designed to mount step boards, and the installation instructions direct you to refer to the instruction sheet included with your step board assembly to complete the mounting. Contact the manufacturer or your retailer to confirm what is included in your purchase.
The manual does not mention disconnecting the battery. Since this is a mechanical bracket installation with no electrical components, battery disconnection is not required.
Yes. Step 5 requires you to remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts and replace them with the mounting brackets. The manual notes that on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing these bolts due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area.
Due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing the body mount bolts. This means they may be more difficult to remove and may require extra care to avoid stripping or damaging the bolts or threads.
1. Pre-assemble the front bracket on the left side with the specified fasteners and torque to 19 lb. ft. (if installing on a 1500, attach the 90° bracket first). 2. Assemble the load reaction studs with their hardware as detailed in Step 3. 3. Attach the load reaction stud assemblies to the mounting brackets (finger tight only). 4. Remove factory body mount bolts and install the front, center, and rear mounting brackets (leave finger tight). 5. Attach the rear outboard bracket to the rear inboard bracket and torque to 19 lb. ft. 6. Install the step boards per their included instructions. 7. Position the load reaction bolt assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame and tighten the flange nuts to 19 lb. ft. 8. Repeat all steps for the right side.
On the left side of the vehicle, assemble the front bracket (Items #2 and #4) using three 3/8"-16 X 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (Items #15, #12, #13). Torque to 19 lb. ft. If installing on a 1500 pickup, you must first attach the small 90° bracket (Item #16) to the front brackets before this assembly.
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (Item #14), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) backwards to the bottom of the thread, then install a 3/8" flat washer (Item #12) and rubber cushion washer (Item #11) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) backwards to near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) on the outboard end of the stud, but leave it finger tight only at this stage. The stud will be fully tightened later after the step boards are installed.
Leave the following fasteners finger tight during initial bracket installation: the front mounting bracket fasteners (Step 5.1), the center mounting bracket fasteners (Step 5.2), and the rear mounting bracket fasteners (Step 5.3). The outboard end of the load reaction stud nuts should also be left finger tight (Step 4). These are tightened to their final torque values only after the step boards are installed and the load reaction bolt assembly is positioned with the rubber cushion snug against the frame.
The rear outboard mounting bracket (Item #7) must be mounted to the back side (towards the rear of the vehicle) of the rear inboard mounting bracket (Item #9) using three 3/8"-16 X 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (Items #15, #12, #13). Be sure to use the correct holes as shown in the figures. Note that there is a difference between Double Cab and Crew Cab applications. Torque the bolts to 19 lb. ft.
The load reaction bolt assembly nuts are tightened in two stages. First, the outboard end nut is installed finger tight only (Step 4). After the step boards are installed per their included instructions, you position the load reaction bolt assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the side of the frame, then tighten the 3/8" flange nuts on both sides of the bracket to 19 lb. ft. (Step 7).
The step boards are installed after the mounting brackets are in place but before final tightening of the load reaction bolt assembly. Step 6 directs you to install the step boards per their included instructions, and Step 7 then requires you to position the load reaction bolt assembly and tighten the nuts to 19 lb. ft. The manual also notes that you must ensure the mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing and that the body mount fasteners are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
All bracket fasteners are torqued to 19 lb. ft. This includes: the front bracket pre-assembly (Step 2), the rear outboard bracket attachment (Step 5.4), and the load reaction bolt assembly nuts (Step 7). The body mount fasteners themselves must be torqued to the manufacturer's specifications, which are not provided in this manual.
The installation uses: 3/8"-16 X 1.0" hex head screws (Item #15, qty 12), 3/8" flat washers (Item #12, qty 18), 3/8" serrated flange nuts (Item #13, qty 30), 3/8"-16 X 4.00" double-ended studs (Item #14, qty 6), rubber washers 0.354 ID X 1.00 OD X 0.75 thick (Item #11, qty 6), and additional flat washers 0.59 ID X 1.06 OD X 0.19 thick for the rear mounting (Item #17, qty 2). All fasteners are zinc-plated steel.
The end of the load reaction stud must be recessed in the rubber cushion washer approximately 3/16".
After installation, ensure that the mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing. The body mount fasteners must be torqued to the manufacturer's specifications (which are not provided in this manual—consult your vehicle's service manual or the manufacturer). The rubber cushion of the load reaction bolt assembly must be snug against the side of the frame.
The rubber cushion washer provides a load reaction point that distributes forces from the step to the frame. It must be positioned snug against the side of the frame to function properly and ensure safe operation of the step.
