LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the 571743 MEGA STEP brackets are designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD crew cab and double cab pickups with gas or diesel engines. The brackets mount to the factory body mounts and require no drilling. If you have a 1500 pickup, you will need to attach an additional small 90° bracket (Item #16) to the front brackets.
The 571743 is designed for 2500/3500HD models. If you have a 1500 pickup, you must attach the small 90° bracket (Item #16) to the front brackets (Items #2 and #4) as part of the assembly. The manual does not confirm whether this modification allows full compatibility with 1500 models or is a partial solution; contact the manufacturer for definitive 1500 fitment confirmation.
Yes. The 571743 is a no-drill application. It mounts directly to the factory body mount bolts without requiring any drilling, cutting, or modification to the vehicle frame or body.
The kit includes left and right front mounting brackets (Items #2, #3), front inboard brackets (Item #4, qty 2), left and right center mounting brackets (Items #5, #6), left and right rear mounting brackets (Items #7, #8), rear inboard mounting brackets (Item #9, qty 2), load reaction studs (Item #14, qty 6), rubber cushion washers (Item #11, qty 6), flat washers (Item #12, qty 18), serrated flange nuts (Item #13, qty 30), hex head screws (Item #15, qty 12), and flat washers for rear mounting (Item #17, qty 2). Two 90° brackets (Item #16) are included if needed for 1500 applications. The step boards themselves are sold separately.
No. The brackets are sold separately from the step boards. The step boards must be installed per the instructions included with the step board assembly. The brackets provide the mounting structure only.
The installation sequence is: (1) Preassemble the front bracket on the left side using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, flat washers, and flange nuts, torqued to 19 lb. ft. (2) Assemble the load reaction studs with rubber cushion washers and flange nuts. (3) Attach the load reaction stud assemblies to the mounting brackets. (4) Remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts and install the mounting brackets, leaving fasteners finger tight. (5) Install the step boards per their included instructions. (6) Position the load reaction bolt assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame side, then tighten the flange nuts to 19 lb. ft. (7) Repeat for the right side.
On the left side of the vehicle, assemble the front bracket (Items #2 and #4) using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws (Item #15), 3/8" flat washers (Item #12), and 3/8" flange nuts (Item #13). Torque to 19 lb. ft. If installing on a 1500 pickup, you must also attach the small 90° bracket (Item #16) to the front brackets.
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (Item #14), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a 3/8" flat washer (Item #12) and rubber cushion washer (Item #11) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end of the stud, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) backwards to near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #13) on the outboard end of the stud, finger tight only at this stage. The rubber cushion will be tightened later after the step boards are installed.
Remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts. Install the front mounting bracket (Items #2, #4) to the front body mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. Install the center mounting bracket (Item #5) to the center body mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. Install the rear mounting bracket (Item #9) and washer (Item #17) to the rear body mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. Attach the rear outboard mounting bracket (Item #7) to the rear inboard mounting bracket (Item #9) using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, flat washers, and flange nuts, torqued to 19 lb. ft. The rear outboard bracket must be mounted to the back side (towards the rear of the vehicle) of the rear inboard bracket. Note that there is a difference between double cab and crew cab applications.
The mounting brackets are left finger tight initially to allow for proper positioning and alignment before final tightening. The brackets must be positioned so that the rubber cushion washers on the load reaction studs are snug against the side of the frame. Once the step boards are installed and proper positioning is confirmed, the flange nuts are tightened to 19 lb. ft.
The rear outboard mounting bracket (Item #7) must be mounted to the back side of the rear inboard mounting bracket (Item #9), towards the rear of the vehicle. There is a difference between double cab and crew cab applications; refer to Figures 2 and 3 in the manual and ensure you use the correct holes for your cab style.
The load reaction stud fasteners are installed finger tight initially (Step 4). After the step boards are installed per their included instructions, you position the load reaction bolt assembly so that the rubber cushion is snug against the side of the frame, then tighten the 3/8" flange nuts on either side of the bracket to 19 lb. ft. (Step 7).
All 3/8"-16 fasteners on the 571743 MEGA STEP brackets are torqued to 19 lb. ft. This includes the front bracket assembly screws, the rear outboard bracket attachment screws, and the load reaction stud flange nuts. After installing the step boards, ensure the mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing and torque the body mount fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications (refer to the vehicle manufacturer's service manual).
The end of the load reaction stud (Item #14) must be recessed in the rubber cushion washer (Item #11) approximately 3/16".
The 571743 uses the following fasteners: 3/8"-16 x 1.0" hex head screws (Item #15, qty 12), 3/8" flat washers (Item #12, qty 18), 3/8" serrated flange nuts (Item #13, qty 30), 3/8"-16 double-ended studs 4.00" long (Item #14, qty 6), rubber cushion washers 0.354" ID x 1.00" OD x 0.75" thick (Item #11, qty 6), and flat washers 0.59" ID x 1.06" OD x 0.19" thick (Item #17, qty 2). All fasteners are zinc-plated steel.
Due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing the body mount bolts. The thread locker may require extra effort to break free. Take your time and use appropriate tools to avoid stripping the bolts or damaging the mounting points.
The rubber cushion washer must be snug against the side of the frame before the load reaction stud fasteners are tightened to 19 lb. ft. Proper positioning of this cushion is essential for correct load distribution and vehicle stability. Ensure the rubber washer is fully seated against the frame side wall before final tightening.
Yes. The mounting brackets must not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing. This is critical to ensure proper load distribution and to prevent interference with the body mount structure. After installing the step boards, verify that the brackets are properly positioned and do not contact the housing.
After installation, verify that: (1) all fasteners are torqued to 19 lb. ft. for the bracket fasteners and to manufacturer specifications for the factory body mount bolts, (2) the rubber cushion washers are snug against the frame side, (3) the mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing, (4) the step boards are securely attached per their included instructions, and (5) there is no movement or rattle in the bracket assembly when the vehicle is moved.
Yes, the 571743 is designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD crew cab and double cab pickups with gas or diesel engines. It is a no-drill, body mount application. For 1500 pickups, an additional 90° bracket (Item #16) is required.
