LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards give you the best of both worlds with a ready-to-work construction and the stylish of popular nerf bars. They feature high-traction rubber treads, a sleek finish and a non-corrosive build -- all to give you dependable footing whether you're headed for work or play. MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards are uniquely designed with extra length on the rear of the boards, reaching all the way to the back wheels. This provides a convenient and secure step for reaching into the truck bed and accessing the crossover truck tool box, headache rack or 5th wheel hitch. The entire length of the running boards is covered with a non-skid rubber tread for enhanced safety, even in wet, rainy conditions. Unlike plastic treads, rubber offers better grip for your boots or shoes. The base of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is an extruded aluminum alloy, providing excellent strength, while remaining lightweight and completely rust-free. To give these truck side steps a touch of style, they are fitted with a polished stainless steel trim that contours around the boards and gives them a look similar to popular nerf bars. The trim piece is polished to a mirror-like shine and easily withstands rain, snow, dirt and more. To make installation fast, easy and secure, LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel steps are made vehicle-specific. Each set has a specific board length and vehicle-specific brackets, providing a custom fit for each unique truck. The brackets install using pre-existing mounting points to eliminate difficult modifications, and the running boards can be positioned inward, outward, forward or backward to suit personal preferences. This particular set of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed for specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" wheel-to-wheel running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Model 571117 W2W MEGA STEP BRACKETS fit 2011 and newer 1500, 2500, and 3500 Series Chevrolet and GMC Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab Pickups. The step board assembly is sold separately and length varies depending on your specific cab style and application.
Yes, the 571117 brackets are designed for all three cab styles. However, the mounting configuration differs: Regular Cab uses only the front and center mounting brackets (Items 2, 3, 4, 5). Extended Cab and Crew Cab use the front, center, and rear mounting brackets, but the rear bracket assembly differs between the two cab styles.
The kit includes mounting brackets (front, center, rear inboard and outboard), spring hanger brackets, load reaction studs, fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, screws), and hardware. The Mega Step Board Assembly (Item 1) is sold separately. All parts are listed in the Service Parts List on page 3, with part numbers and quantities.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side of the vehicle at a time to install the mounting brackets. For 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra models, use caution when removing body mount bolts due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area, which can damage the threaded inserts inside the vehicle.
No permanent modification is required. You must loosen the factory spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item 10) up behind the flange of the bolt. The bolt is then retightened to the manufacturer's specification after the brackets are installed.
No drilling is required. The installation uses existing factory body mount bolt holes and spring hanger bolt locations. The brackets are attached using factory fastener points.
On the short threaded end of the stud (Item 16), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item 15) backwards to the bottom of the thread, then install a 3/8" flat washer (Item 14) and rubber cushion washer (Item 13) tight against the nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut backwards to near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame side) through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the body brackets that allows the rubber washer to seat firmly against the frame side wall. Install a 3/8" black flange nut (Item 15) on the outboard end of the stud finger tight only at this stage. The stud is fully tightened later after the step is positioned.
Use 3/8" black zinc plated bolts (Item 17), 3/8" flat washers (Item 14), and 3/8" serrated flange nuts (Item 15). The bolts must be inserted through the front side of the bracket so the serrated flange nuts are on the back side to allow clearance for the truck frame. Torque the bolts to 19 lb. ft.
For Extended Cab, use the bottom single hole and bottom double holes in the rear inboard bracket (Item 8). For Crew Cab, use the bottom single hole and top double holes in the rear inboard bracket. Both configurations use the same fasteners and torque specification of 19 lb. ft.
Loosen the factory spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item 10) up behind the flange of the bolt with the channel open to the outboard side. Install the outboard spring hanger bracket (Item 9) so its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. Use 3/8" zinc plated bolts (Item 18), 3/8" washers (Item 19), 1/2" washers (Item 20), and 3/8" zinc plated nylock nuts (Item 21). Leave fasteners finger tight until final tightening.
Install four (4) 5/16" square head screws (Item 11) in the center slot on the underside of the step. If you are using cab length boards, install three (3) screws instead. The screws must be located in the center two slots of the brackets.
Position the step so that the front of the step is about even with the rear metallic flange of the front wheel well. You can locate the step in and out as desired after positioning it on the mounting brackets.
Tighten the 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item 12) on the square head screws (Item 11) to 19 lb. ft.
Torque the 3/8" bolts (Item 17) that attach the rear outboard cab mounting bracket to the rear inboard bracket to 19 lb. ft. This applies to both Extended Cab and Crew Cab configurations.
Torque all remaining 3/8" bolts and nuts to 19 lb. ft. This includes the bolts (Item 18) that attach the spring hanger brackets (Items 9 and 10) together.
Yes. If you are mounting the steps on a 1500 model pickup, you must attach bracket 551571 (Item 23) to brackets 551902 (Items 2 and 3) in order to use the load reaction stud. This bracket is not required for 2500 or 3500 models.
After positioning the step and tightening the square head screw nuts to 19 lb. ft., tighten the body mount bolts per manufacturer's specifications, tighten the spring hanger bolt per manufacturer's specifications, and tighten all remaining 3/8" bolts and nuts to 19 lb. ft.
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
Yes, if you have a 2011 or newer Chevrolet or GMC 1500, 2500, or 3500 Series pickup in Regular, Extended, or Crew Cab configuration. The step board is sold separately.
No. The Mega Step Board Assembly (Item 1) is sold separately. The kit includes only the mounting brackets and fasteners.
No. The brackets use existing factory body mount bolt holes and spring hanger bolt locations. No drilling is required.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side at a time. For 2010+ Silverado/Sierra, use caution due to excessive thread locker that can damage threaded inserts.
Torque the rear outboard bracket bolts, step attachment nuts, and spring hanger bracket bolts to 19 lb. ft. Torque factory body mount bolts and spring hanger bolts per manufacturer's specifications (not listed in this manual).
Yes. Regular Cab uses only front and center brackets. Extended and Crew Cab use front, center, and rear brackets, with different hole configurations in the rear inboard bracket between the two cab styles.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E. Failure to maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in vehicle damage.
