Model 571447 MEGA STEP Brackets are designed for 2014 and newer GM 1500 pickups (gas engines) and 2015 GM 2500/3500HD pickups (gas engines). The brackets mount to the rocker panel using a no-drill application.

Note that due to the shortness of some boxes, mount the box step pad first, approximately 1/2" from the end cap, then mount the middle step pad accordingly. Pad positions are suggestions and may be placed at the purchaser's discretion.

Install square head bolts into the designated slots in the bottom of the step plates. 3. Install end caps and tighten nuts to 5 lb-ft. 4. Position the O-MEGA step on the mounting brackets so the square head screws are in the bracket slots and the step is centered front to rear. 5. Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft.

Position mounting brackets so holes align with rocker panel holes and install 5/16"-18 X 1.0" hex bolts and flat washers finger tight. 3. Install M8-1.25 X 30 mm hex bolts, flat washers, and pinch weld support through the hole and install M8-1.25 nuts finger tight. 4. Repeat for remaining brackets. 5. Attach spring hanger mounting brackets by loosening the spring hanger bolt, sliding the inboard bracket behind the flange, and installing the outboard bracket with 3/8"-16 bolts, washers, and lock nuts finger tight. 6. Install the step board per included instructions. 7. Press step down and back, then tighten all mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft, starting with bottom bolts followed by top bolts. 8. Repeat for the right side.
The end cap nuts (Item #3) should be tightened to 5 lb-ft.

Spring hanger mounting uses 3/8"-16 X 2" hex bolts (Item #12, part 101326), 3/8" flat washers (Item #13, part 100062), 1/2" flat washers (Item #14, part 100118), and 3/8"-16 self-locking nuts (Item #15, part 102381). These fasteners should be left finger tight during installation and tightened to 19 lb-ft after the step board is installed and pressed down and back.
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
Position the O-MEGA step on the mounting brackets so that the square head screws (Item #4) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Then install 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #5) on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft.
The pinch weld support bracket (Item #8, part 551666) is installed with the M8-1.25 X 30 mm hex bolts through the upper hole location on the rocker panel to provide structural support at the pinch weld area.
1. Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #10) up behind the flange of the bolt, with the channel open to the outboard side. 2. Using a 3/8"-16 bolt, 3/8" washer, 1/2" washer, and 3/8" lock nut (Items #12-15), install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #11) so the inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. Leave these fasteners finger tight. 3. After installing the step board and pressing the step down and back, tighten to 19 lb-ft.
