Want to take the family on a cross-country adventure? Or perhaps you're planning a shorter trip to your favorite campground. Whatever your destination, it's important to have the right equipment, especially when towing a fifth wheel trailer. To ensure proper hookup and safety while towing, you'll need something to attach your fifth wheel hitch in the bed on your truck. Many pickups come equipped with factory-installed rails or puck systems, but if you don't have one of these already installed, don't worry. REESE has an extensive line of mounting rails and bracket kits, custom-made to the exact specifications needed based on your truck's year, make, and model. REESE also offers several Industry Standard designs, as well as fastener kits, spacer kits, and a Power Puck mounting kit, so you can be sure you're covered, no matter what pickup you're using to tow. So make it easy. Make it fun. Make it REESE, so you can make the journey as enjoyable as the destination.

Reese has designed towing equipment since 1952 and remains a benchmark for heavy-duty towing. The line covers fifth wheel hitches such as the modular M5, gooseneck couplers including the Goose Box, air-ride and short-bed pin boxes, weight distribution systems with active sway control, and the accessories that connect them, all built to exceed published industry standards.
Reese has been pioneering towing performance since 1952, when Margaret Reese asked her husband TJ to stop travel trailers rocking every time somebody walked through them. His answer, the first pair of stabilising jacks, was simple and effective enough to change the RV industry. From that starting point Reese grew into a designer and manufacturer of complete towing systems, and today it anchors the heavy-duty end of the Horizon Global towing portfolio.
Fifth wheel towing is where the brand's engineering is most visible. The M5 fifth wheel hitch uses a modular design that breaks into manageable sections for assembly, with a wider stance, tighter tolerances and a shock absorption system aimed at the jolts that travel up through a truck bed. For owners who would rather tow from a gooseneck coupler and keep the bed clear, the Goose Box 20K replaces the trailer's king pin with a gooseneck connection carrying its own air-ride cushioning.
Pin boxes are a Reese speciality. The 5th Airborne uses air-ride technology to dampen road shock and reduce the chucking motion that makes fifth wheel towing tiring, while the Sidewinder was designed for short-bed pickups, pivoting the connection point so the trailer can turn sharply without the front cap meeting the cab.
For conventional towing, Reese weight distribution systems restore load to the tow vehicle's front axle and control sway. The Pro Round Bar distributes weight evenly while damping sway, and the Pro Dual Cam II uses active cam-based sway control that works harder the stronger the sway force becomes. Complete kits pair bars, head and shank to a rated tongue weight, and dedicated sway control kits can be added to existing setups. The products suit RV owners, horse and livestock haulers and anyone towing near the upper end of a vehicle's rating.

The 56034 kit is designed for Ford F-150 trucks equipped with the 30153 REESE® Rails (48") only. It is compatible with 5.5', 6.5', and 8' bed lengths. Before purchasing, verify your truck has the 30153 rails installed and check the Reese Products website (www.ReeseProducts.com) to confirm your specific model year and configuration are supported.
No. The manual explicitly states: 'Do not install this product on or attempt to tow with a truck with a 5-1/2' bed unless a sidewinder pinbox coupler has been installed on the trailer.' If your truck has a 5-1/2' bed and your trailer does not have a sidewinder pinbox coupler, this kit is not suitable for your application.
No. The manual states: 'Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic bed liners must be cut out of the way to provide metal to metal contact.' You must remove or cut away any plastic bed liner in the mounting area. However, spray-in bed liners are permitted, though you should consult your installer about the recommended curing time before installation.
You will need: wrenches (3/4" and 18mm), drill bits (1/8" and 9/16"), a center punch, and a measuring tape. The kit includes fastener kit 56034F with all bolts, nuts, and washers required. All other fasteners are supplied with the 30153 rails.
The kit includes: 1 driver bracket, 1 passenger bracket, 4 x 1/2" Grade 8 nuts, 4 x 1/2" conical washers, 4 x 1/2"-13 x 1.75" Grade 8 carriage bolts, 2 x 0.250" x 1" x 2" blocks, 2 x circle blocks, 4 x galvanic isolator strips, 18 x galvanic isolator squares (2" x 2"), 4 x pull wires (1/2"-13), and 20 x 0.1875" x 1" x 2" U-shaped spacers. All fasteners are Grade 8 unless otherwise specified.
The manual states: 'Lower and remove spare tire if extra room is needed.' Removal is optional and depends on whether you need additional access space. If your truck has an inner plastic wheel well liner, you must remove it to allow access to the frame.
Yes. Drilling is required. You must drill two sets of holes: first, 1/8" pilot holes at marked positions (Step 4), then enlarge them to 9/16" (Step 7). The manual warns: 'When drilling holes be aware of potential risks to vehicle components and make appropriate safe guards to protect them from damage.' You must also paint all bare metal after drilling to prevent corrosion.
You drill two sizes: first, 1/8" pilot holes at marked positions, then enlarge them to 9/16". The 1/8" holes are drilled in Step 4 to mark and align the mounting positions. In Step 7, these are enlarged to 9/16" to accommodate the carriage bolts.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. The manual specifies: 'Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. First torque the mounting rails to the frame brackets and then torque the frame brackets to the truck frame.' This two-stage sequence ensures proper alignment and clamping.
The installation follows this sequence: (1) Remove spare tire and wheel well liner if needed; (2) Install galvanic isolator strips on rail undersides; (3) Position and center rear mounting rail, mark and drill 1/8" pilot holes; (4) Loosely install frame brackets with pull-wire hardware assembly; (5) Enlarge holes to 9/16"; (6) Install U-shaped spacers with carriage bolts and tighten snug; (7) Repeat steps 3–6 for front mounting rail; (8) Position second mounting rail with hitch assembly; (9) Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs (rails to brackets first, then brackets to frame); (10) Replace wheel well liner and spare tire.
The pull wire is a tool to position hardware inside the truck frame. For the rear mounting hole: insert the coiled end of the pull wire through the 1" diameter hole on the frame side, out through the 1-1/2" access hole inside the frame. Slide the block (6) over the coiled end and attach the 1/2" x 1.75" carriage bolt. Push the hardware up through the access hole, then thread the other end of the pull wire through the back of the frame bracket and gently pull to move the hardware into position. Install the conical washer and nut and hand-tighten. Repeat for the forward mounting hole using the circle block (7) and the large oval access hole.
Galvanic isolator strips and squares prevent corrosion caused by direct contact between steel components (brackets, spacers, rails) and the aluminum truck bed. Isolator strips (8) are placed on the bottom surface of the rail. Isolator squares (9) are placed on U-shaped spacers where they contact the truck bed. The manual emphasizes: 'It is important that the galvanic isolator strips (8) are installed correctly to avoid corrosion between the mounting rails and truck bed.' Failure to use them may cause corrosion damage.
The U-shaped spacers (20 supplied) are positioned in the corrugation between the truck bed and the mounting rail, or between the bed and frame bracket. They prevent crushing the bed corrugation when the carriage bolts are tightened. Each U-shaped spacer must have a 2" x 2" galvanic isolator square (9) placed on the side that makes contact with the truck bed. The spacers are installed with 1/2" x 2" carriage bolts, conical washers, and hex nuts.
Use a measuring tape to center each mounting rail between the weld seams on the truck bed floor. The rear rail should be positioned at the correct distance from the rear edge of the truck bed (see Figure 2 for dimensions: 28-5/16" for 5.5', 6.5', and 8' beds). The front rail should be positioned approximately 1" forward of the axle centerline. When installing the second rail with the hitch assembly, push it tight toward the first rail to ensure a snug fit. The manual states: 'Ensure that the mounting rail is centered between the weld seams on the length of the truck box floor. This will position the mounting rail in the correct location and ensure that the 5th wheel will have a snug fit to the truck.'
If more than one hitch product will be used with the rails, both should be assembled and positioned at the same time to align the second mounting rail. The manual states: 'If more than one hitch product will be used with the rails then both should be used at the same time to align the second rail. This will ensure that one product does not compromise the fit of the other.'
The manual states: 'Under no circumstances do we recommend exceeding the towing vehicle manufacturers recommended vehicle towing capacity.' You must not exceed the towing capacity specified by Ford for your F-150 model. The 56034 kit is a mounting system only and does not increase your truck's towing capacity.
Yes. The manual states: 'Always measure truck and trailer before installing hitch to be sure that there is clearance at the cab and at the bumper to allow for turns.' This is essential to ensure the trailer does not strike the truck cab or bumper during turning maneuvers.
After installation: (1) Repaint any areas where holes were drilled through the bed to prevent corrosion; (2) Replace the inner plastic wheel well liner and spare tire if they were removed; (3) Verify that all 1/2" fasteners are torqued to 110 ft-lbs (first the rails to brackets, then brackets to frame); (4) Check that the mounting rail is centered and the hitch has a snug fit.
The manual states: 'Check mounting system bolt tightness once per year.' This is an owner responsibility to ensure the kit remains secure and safe during towing.
The 56034 kit includes a Limited Lifetime Warranty from Cequent Performance Products, Inc. The warranty covers material and workmanship defects, ordinary wear and tear excepted, provided installation and use comply with product instructions. The warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original consumer purchaser only. Yes. The manual states: 'Prior to installing product, please visit one of our websites to assure your kit contains the most recent revision to installation instruction and verify vehicle application.' Visit www.ReeseProducts.com to confirm you have the latest revision and that your specific truck configuration is supported.
The 56034 is designed for Ford F-150 with 30153 REESE® Rails (48") only, in 5.5', 6.5', or 8' bed lengths. Not compatible with 5-1/2' beds unless a sidewinder pinbox coupler is installed on the trailer. Verify your truck configuration at www.ReeseProducts.com before purchase.
You need wrenches (3/4" and 18mm), drill bits (1/8" and 9/16"), a center punch, and a measuring tape. The kit includes fastener kit 56034F with all bolts, nuts, and washers.
Yes. You must drill 1/8" pilot holes, then enlarge them to 9/16". The manual warns to protect vehicle components from damage and to paint all bare metal after drilling.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. Torque the mounting rails to the frame brackets first, then torque the frame brackets to the truck frame.
No. The manual states: 'Under no circumstances do we recommend exceeding the towing vehicle manufacturers recommended vehicle towing capacity.' The kit is a mounting system only and does not increase towing capacity.
No. Plastic bed liners must be cut away to provide metal-to-metal contact. Spray-in liners are permitted; consult your installer about curing time.
Check mounting system bolt tightness once per year to ensure the kit remains secure.
Step 6 instructs: 'Check that the 1/8" drilled holes from step 4 align with the slots of the frame bracket (1) & (2).' If they do not align, the mounting rail position must be adjusted before enlarging the holes to 9/16". Reposition the rail to center it correctly between the weld seams and at the proper distance from the rear edge, then re-mark and re-drill the pilot holes.
Corrosion is caused by direct contact between steel components (frame brackets, U-shaped spacers, mounting rails) and the aluminum truck bed. The manual states: 'Contact between any steel components (frame mounting brackets, U-shaped spacers, mounting rails, etc.) and aluminum bed may cause corrosion.' To prevent this: (1) Place galvanic isolator strips (8) on the bottom surface of the rail; (2) Place galvanic isolator squares (9) on U-shaped spacers where they contact the bed; (3) Ensure paint is not damaged on brackets; (4) Repaint any areas where holes were drilled through the bed.
Step 9 instructs to 'tighten snug to keep the mounting rail from moving' after installing the U-shaped spacers and carriage bolts. If the rail moves during hand-tightening, ensure the U-shaped spacers are correctly positioned in the bed corrugation and that the galvanic isolator squares are properly seated. Then tighten the fasteners snugly (but not to final torque) to stabilize the rail before final torque in Step 11.
The manual states: 'The circle block (7) should fit inside embossment in truck frame.' If it does not fit, verify that the square hole in the circle block is positioned at the bottom of the mounting hole on the frame, as shown in Figure 1. If the block still does not fit, the forward mounting hole may be misaligned. Check that the mounting rail is centered correctly between the weld seams and at the proper distance from the rear edge, then re-mark and re-drill the hole.
