Regardless of how far youre planning to travel, be it across town or across the country, youll need to be sure you have your safety chains from REESE securely in place. Safety chains - which are required by law - are usually link chains that connect the rear of your tow vehicle to the front of your trailer. As their name states, these chains are a safety measure when towing, adding an extra layer of connection protection in case your trailer should become uncoupled from your towing setup. With REESE safety chains, you can tow with confidence, knowing your towing setup is protected against the what ifs. REESE, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination.

Reese has designed towing equipment since 1952 and remains a benchmark for heavy-duty towing. The line covers fifth wheel hitches such as the modular M5, gooseneck couplers including the Goose Box, air-ride and short-bed pin boxes, weight distribution systems with active sway control, and the accessories that connect them, all built to exceed published industry standards.
Reese has been pioneering towing performance since 1952, when Margaret Reese asked her husband TJ to stop travel trailers rocking every time somebody walked through them. His answer, the first pair of stabilising jacks, was simple and effective enough to change the RV industry. From that starting point Reese grew into a designer and manufacturer of complete towing systems, and today it anchors the heavy-duty end of the Horizon Global towing portfolio.
Fifth wheel towing is where the brand's engineering is most visible. The M5 fifth wheel hitch uses a modular design that breaks into manageable sections for assembly, with a wider stance, tighter tolerances and a shock absorption system aimed at the jolts that travel up through a truck bed. For owners who would rather tow from a gooseneck coupler and keep the bed clear, the Goose Box 20K replaces the trailer's king pin with a gooseneck connection carrying its own air-ride cushioning.
Pin boxes are a Reese speciality. The 5th Airborne uses air-ride technology to dampen road shock and reduce the chucking motion that makes fifth wheel towing tiring, while the Sidewinder was designed for short-bed pickups, pivoting the connection point so the trailer can turn sharply without the front cap meeting the cab.
For conventional towing, Reese weight distribution systems restore load to the tow vehicle's front axle and control sway. The Pro Round Bar distributes weight evenly while damping sway, and the Pro Dual Cam II uses active cam-based sway control that works harder the stronger the sway force becomes. Complete kits pair bars, head and shank to a rated tongue weight, and dedicated sway control kits can be added to existing setups. The products suit RV owners, horse and livestock haulers and anyone towing near the upper end of a vehicle's rating.

You will need a 13/16" wrench, a 13/16" socket, and a torque wrench. No drill bits are required. The fastener kit 49151F is also required.
No, drilling is not required. The Goose Box has pre-drilled mounting lugs on the underside where the safety chains attach.
1. Locate the safety chain mounting lugs on the underside of the Goose Box. 2. Insert a 9/16-12x2.5" Grade 8 bolt through the lug. 3. Place the last link of the chain over the bolt. 4. Stack the fasteners onto the bolt in this order: 9/16" flat washer (large), 9/16" HS flat washer (small), 9/16" split lock washer, and 9/16-12 Grade 8 hex nut. 5. Tighten and torque to 110 ft. lbs. 6. Repeat for the second chain.
Torque each bolt to 110 ft. lbs. This applies to both safety chains.
The bolts are 9/16-12 Grade 8, 2.5" long (part number 125775). Two bolts are included in the kit.
Each safety chain is 44" long with a hook (part number 125777). Two chains are included.
Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer's recommended vehicle towing capacity. Failure to follow installation and use instructions may cause property damage, injury or death. You must also not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating, the trailer manufacturer's rating, or the kit's maximum of 20,000 lb gross trailer weight and 4,000 lb pin weight.
Yes, if your Goose Box is model 94623 or 94720. The kit has a maximum capacity of 20,000 lb gross trailer weight and 4,000 lb pin weight, but you must not exceed your towing vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity.
You need a 13/16" wrench, 13/16" socket, and a torque wrench. No drilling is required. The fastener kit 49151F is included.
The manual does not provide an installation time estimate. Installation involves attaching two chains to the Goose Box mounting lugs using bolts, washers, and nuts, then torquing to 110 ft. lbs.
Torque each bolt to 110 ft. lbs. Use a torque wrench and 13/16" socket.
Maximum gross trailer weight is 20,000 lb and maximum pin weight is 4,000 lb. However, you must not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating, your trailer manufacturer's rating, or these limits.
