Reese has been pioneering towing performance since 1952, when Margaret Reese asked her husband TJ to stop travel trailers rocking every time somebody walked through them. His answer, the first pair of stabilising jacks, was simple and effective enough to change the RV industry. From that starting point Reese grew into a designer and manufacturer of complete towing systems, and today it anchors the heavy-duty end of the Horizon Global towing portfolio.
Fifth wheel towing is where the brand's engineering is most visible. The M5 fifth wheel hitch uses a modular design that breaks into manageable sections for assembly, with a wider stance, tighter tolerances and a shock absorption system aimed at the jolts that travel up through a truck bed. For owners who would rather tow from a gooseneck coupler and keep the bed clear, the Goose Box 20K replaces the trailer's king pin with a gooseneck connection carrying its own air-ride cushioning.
Pin boxes are a Reese speciality. The 5th Airborne uses air-ride technology to dampen road shock and reduce the chucking motion that makes fifth wheel towing tiring, while the Sidewinder was designed for short-bed pickups, pivoting the connection point so the trailer can turn sharply without the front cap meeting the cab.
For conventional towing, Reese weight distribution systems restore load to the tow vehicle's front axle and control sway. The Pro Round Bar distributes weight evenly while damping sway, and the Pro Dual Cam II uses active cam-based sway control that works harder the stronger the sway force becomes. Complete kits pair bars, head and shank to a rated tongue weight, and dedicated sway control kits can be added to existing setups. The products suit RV owners, horse and livestock haulers and anyone towing near the upper end of a vehicle's rating.

The part number is 30927. This product is designed for installation with the M5 Head and Center Section 5th wheel hitch system.
You must purchase the M5 Head and M5 Center Section separately, as they are not included with the legs. You also need the required 30153 above bed rails. All three components are essential for a complete 5th wheel hitch installation.
The manual does not specify truck bed length compatibility. You must determine which center section mounting holes to use to ensure a minimum of 6 inches of clearance between the truck bed rail and the bottom of the trailer. For detailed guidance on matching the hitch to your specific truck and trailer, refer to the 'Guidelines for Matching Hitch, Truck, and Trailer' section in the M5 Head and Center Section instruction sheet.
The M5 ISR 27K Legs have 4 inches of vertical adjustment. This allows you to position the legs at the correct height to maintain the required 6-inch minimum clearance between the truck bed rail and the bottom of the trailer.
The kit includes: 2 M5 ISR Legs (part 30926); 4 M16 x 2 x 40mm CL10.9 hex head bolts; 4 5/8-inch conical washers; 2 M16 x 2 CL10.9 nuts; 4 half-inch pins; 4 spring clips; and 1 anti-rattle kit containing 4 rod ends, 4 castle nuts, 4 lynch pins, 4 half-inch pins, and 4 spring clips.
You need an M24 wrench and a torque wrench. The torque wrench is essential because the M16 hex head bolts must be tightened to a specific torque value of 220 ft-lb.
Yes. The M5 ISR Legs come ready to install and require no pre-assembly or preparation before attachment to the center section.
Use 4 M16 x 2 x 40mm hex head bolts with 4 5/8-inch conical washers to attach the legs to the center section structure, threading the bolts from the inside of the center section into the threaded portion of the legs. Place the remaining 2 M16 x 2 x 40mm hex head bolts in the center hole location on both legs using 2 conical washers and 2 M16 x 2 nuts. Finger tighten all bolts initially until final adjustments are made.
During assembly, the collars on each leg (marked A in the diagram) must be fully inserted and seated in the corresponding holes in the center section (marked B). This ensures proper alignment and load distribution. Do not proceed with tightening until the collars are completely seated.
Yes. Legs must be attached at the same height on both sides of the unit. This ensures balanced load distribution and proper hitch operation.
The unit must be oriented with the vehicle forward, as shown in the diagram on page 4. The legs are placed into the existing required 30153 above bed rails in this orientation. Refer to the diagram in Step 6 for the correct positioning.
Do not tighten the bolts to final torque until after the legs are pinned and securely held in the above bed rails. First, finger tighten the bolts during initial assembly (Step 3), then place the unit in the rails and secure it with pins and spring clips (Steps 6-7). Only after the unit is pinned and held securely should you tighten each M16 hex head bolt to 220 ft-lb of torque (Step 8).
The anti-rattle kit is essential to achieve the 27K towing rating. The kit components (rod ends, castle nuts, lynch pins, pins, and spring clips) must be used at all times during installation and operation. The anti-rattle instructions are included with the kit and must be followed before moving forward with installation.
Yes. When placing the unit in the rails and following the anti-rattle instructions, you must use the solid mounted pin as shown in the diagram on page 4. Do not tighten the anti-rattle components until after Step 8 (final torque of the M16 bolts).
Each M16 hex head bolt that connects the center section to the legs must be tightened to 220 ft-lb of torque. This torque must be achieved after the legs are pinned and securely held in the above bed rails.
After tightening all M16 hex head bolts to 220 ft-lb of torque, verify that the hitch is tight to the truck by lifting each side of the hitch. This test confirms that the legs are securely fastened and the unit is properly installed.
After the legs are installed and torqued, assemble the M5 Head to the M5 Center Section according to the instructions included with those components. The head and center section assembly instructions are separate from the legs installation.
The M5 ISR 27K Legs are rated for 27,000 pounds. However, you must not exceed your towing vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity or the lowest rated component of your entire towing system. Verify that all other components of your towing system do not reduce the overall tow rating of the hitch.
Yes. The anti-rattle components included with the leg kit must be used at all times to achieve the 27K rating. Without these components properly installed, the hitch will not be rated for 27,000 pounds of towing capacity.
After installation, verify that the hitch is tight to the truck by lifting each side of the hitch. Before any trip, verify that the pins and spring clips are undamaged and secure. These checks confirm proper installation and safe operation.
Every 1,000 miles, check the M16 hex bolts that connect the center section to the legs to ensure they are still torqued to 220 ft-lb. Regular retorque checks maintain the integrity of the installation and ensure safe towing.
