Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system and a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. This particular tool box features a wedged design to optimize storage space without obstructing other accessories in the truck bed, including the wheel wells. Each UWS truck tool box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring a stainless steel, key-operated paddle handle. Stainless steel construction supplies the lock with long-lasting corrosion resistance. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. A mounting hardware kit (part #003-CBOXMK) may or may not be included depending on the model; you may need to purchase your own hardware separately. You will need a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. If you do not have a mounting hardware kit included with your chest box, you will also need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts separately.
If your truck has a plastic, drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. The manual does not specify whether this is required for all installations or only some. Check the fit before drilling, and trim as needed to allow the chest box to sit properly on the truck bed ribs.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components.
