UWS wedge utility chest boxes provide unbeatable storage and security for your items in the bed of your truck and on the jobsite. Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system and a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. This particular tool box features a wedged design to optimize storage space without obstructing other accessories in the truck bed, including the wheel wells. Each UWS truck tool box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring stainless steel, key-operated paddle handles. Stainless steel construction supplies the locks with long-lasting corrosion resistance, and they feature an internal connecting rod that allows the lid to be opened from either side of the truck. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. Like all UWS products, each one is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability.

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The package includes one utility chest box and two keys. A mounting hardware kit may or may not be included depending on the model. If the mounting hardware kit is not included, you will need to purchase your own hardware to install the chest box. Check your specific product documentation to confirm what is included with your model.
The chest box mounts to truck beds with raised ribs that can serve as alignment points for the mounting holes. Before installation, you must verify that your truck bed has suitable raised ribs for mounting. If your truck has a plastic drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment. Consult your dealer if you have questions about compatibility with your specific vehicle.
You will need a drill, 1/2" drill bit, 11/32" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, tape measure, and level. If you are using the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will also need to use the 1/2" drill bit to enlarge holes in the truck bed. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
If the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK is not included, you will need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts. These fasteners are used to secure the chest box through the bottom and truck bed. Ensure all fasteners are tightened to the recommended torque values: 5/16" bolts to 7 ft-lbs. or M8 bolts to 7 ft-lbs.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks, or other components. Take precaution that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision. This is a critical safety step that must be completed before any drilling begins.
Place the chest box into your desired location and check for proper lid operation. In the bottom of the chest box, select two mounting points for securing the box to the truck bed. The chosen mounting points should be aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed. This alignment is essential for proper installation.
Use an 11/32" drill bit to drill through the chest box and truck bed. If you are using the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will then need to enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the instructions included with that hardware kit.
If your truck has a plastic drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. Check the fit of the chest box in your desired location before drilling. If the bed liner interferes with mounting, trim or cut it as needed to allow proper installation.
Tighten 5/16" bolts to 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the mounting bolts used to secure the chest box to the truck bed. If you are using M8 metric bolts instead, the torque specification is also 7 ft-lbs. Always use a torque wrench to ensure fasteners are tightened to the correct specification.
Metric bolt torque specifications: M6 = 3 ft-lbs., M8 = 7 ft-lbs., M10 = 16 ft-lbs., M12 = 28 ft-lbs. SAE bolt torque specifications: 1/4" = 3 ft-lbs., 5/16" = 7 ft-lbs., 3/8" = 16 ft-lbs., 7/16" = 20 ft-lbs., 1/2" = 28 ft-lbs. These are general guidelines. If purchasing hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Use a silicone-type caulk to fill in any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box to prevent water from seeping into the chest box. Additionally, treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion. This protects both the chest box and the truck bed.
Chest boxes come with adjustable strikers. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust, and re-tighten them. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Danger of explosion exists if these materials are stored in the chest box.
Yes. This product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product installed. Be aware of reduced visibility when reversing or changing lanes.
No. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The chest box adds weight to your truck bed, so you must account for this when loading cargo. Exceeding your vehicle's capacity can affect handling, braking, and safety.
No. Do not modify this product. Never modify the chest box after installation, as this may compromise its structural integrity and safety. Use the product only for the purposes for which it was designed.
The chest box must not interfere with factory-installed safety equipment. Before installation, verify that the mounting location does not obstruct airbags, sensors, brake lines, fuel lines, electrical systems, or other safety-critical components. If there is any risk of interference, consult your dealer for alternative mounting locations.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Verify that the lid operates properly and that all fasteners are tightened to the recommended torque values. Check that the strikers are properly aligned and that the chest box is securely mounted to the truck bed.
Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. It is recommended to check the hardware before every trip to ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured.
Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish. For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs on the finish. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance. The manual does not specify the type of lubricant to use. Use a general-purpose light machine oil or silicone-based lubricant suitable for metal hinges and locks.
The chest box mounts to truck beds with raised ribs for alignment. Plastic drop-in bed liners may need trimming. Consult your dealer to confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle.
Not all models include the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK. Check your product documentation. If not included, you will need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts separately.
Yes. You must drill through the chest box and truck bed using an 11/32" drill bit. If using the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, enlarge the truck bed holes with a 1/2" drill bit. Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure you do not puncture brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, or fuel tanks.
Tighten 5/16" or M8 bolts to 7 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness. If using different hardware, follow the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Do not store flammables, explosives, or hazardous materials such as gasoline, solvents, propane tanks, or acetylene tanks. Danger of explosion exists if these materials are stored in the chest box.
Ensure all bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured before every trip. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all mounting hardware for wear, corrosion and fatigue. Lubricate strikers and locks regularly. Use mild automotive detergent to clean; avoid abrasive cleaners.
