Yes, Curt part 56135 is designed for the Dodge Charger. The installation manual is specific to this vehicle model.
The Curt 56135 is a T-Connector wiring harness for the Dodge Charger. It integrates with your vehicle's taillight wiring to provide trailer lighting connections. The system includes a converter box, T-Connector harness with colour-coded wires (yellow and green), a ground wire with eyelet, power wire, fuse holder with 10 amp fuse, and a 4-flat connector for trailer use.
The kit includes: a T-Connector harness with yellow and green wire ends, a black converter box, a white ground wire with eyelet, a black power wire, a fuse holder with 10 amp fuse, double-sided tape, a screw for the ground wire eyelet, cable ties, and a 4-flat connector. A 3/32" drill bit is required if drilling a new ground hole.
Open the trunk and remove: all trunk floor covers, the rear scuff panel (by pulling out at the bottom and up at the top), and on both sides of the trunk remove the plastic fastener and cargo loop holding the felt trunk liner in place. These items are reinstalled after installation.
On the driver's side, pull back the felt trunk liner to locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors carefully without damaging the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the T-Connector end with the green wire, routing it behind the removed scuff panel.
Drilling is optional. You may locate an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame to use as a grounding point. If no suitable existing fastener is available, drill a 3/32" hole and secure the eyelet of the white ground wire using the screw provided. Before drilling, verify that miscellaneous items hidden behind or under any surface will not be damaged.
Drill a 3/32" hole if you cannot locate an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame to use as a grounding point.
The T-Connector harness has two colour-coded ends: the yellow wire end connects to the driver's side taillight wiring, and the green wire end connects to the passenger side taillight wiring. The white wire is the ground wire, and the black wire is the power wire that routes to the fuse panel.
Route the black power wire to the fuse panel near the battery. Remove the fuse panel cover and remove the nut securing the red battery cable. Place the fuse holder's ring terminal over the stud and replace the nut. Install the 10 amp fuse provided in the fuse holder and close the fuse holder's cap.
The Curt 56135 uses a 10 amp fuse, which is provided in the kit.
Use the cable ties provided in the kit to secure any loose wires, particularly when routing the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger side behind the removed scuff panel.
Locate a flat spot on the vehicle's frame and adhere the black converter box using the double-sided tape provided in the kit.
Before drilling, verify that miscellaneous items hidden behind or under any surface will not be damaged. This is critical to avoid damage to vehicle components and personal injury.
Route the 4-flat connector out from under the felt trunk liner to the center of the vehicle when in use. Roll it up and store in an out-of-the-way location when not in use.
Yes, the Curt 56135 is designed specifically for the Dodge Charger.
