Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, part number 24928 fits 2015-current Ford Mustang models. Visit the Cequent website for the most up-to-date information regarding specific application years and trim levels.
You will need: a ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, and sockets in 13mm, 15mm, and 11/16 inch sizes. A 6-inch socket extension is also shown in the hitch illustration.
Yes. You must unhook the four hanger brackets to lower the exhaust and support it with a ratchet strap to create enough room for the hitch to slide in.
All 7/16 inch hitch fasteners must be tightened to 50 lb-ft (68 N·M) using a torque wrench.
The maximum gross trailer weight is 2000 lb (907 kg) and the maximum tongue weight is 200 lb (91 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing frame rail access holes and mounting holes. Fasteners are routed through these holes using the fishwire technique.
The 24928 hitch receiver is supplied with fastener kit 24928F. The fastener kit includes: 2 carriage bolts 7/16 inch-14 x 1.50 GR5, 6 spacers 1/4 inch x 1 inch x 3 inch, 6 conical washers 7/16 inch, 6 hex nuts 7/16 inch-14 GR2, 6 fishwires 7/16 inch-14, and 4 carriage bolts 7/16 inch-14 x 1.25 GR5. The drawbar kit (3594) is sold separately.
Yes, the 24928 fits convertible Mustangs, but installation requires additional steps. You must remove the support member by removing 14 bolts (10mm) to access the forward hanger brackets. This adds approximately 60 minutes to the installation time, for a total of about 90 minutes.
Fishwire is a technique to route fasteners through tight spaces. You thread the 7/16 inch carriage bolts and spacers through the frame rail access hole and out through two bottom and one side mounting holes in the frame rail. The fishwires are left attached initially to guide the fasteners, then removed before installing the conical washers and nuts.
Remove the 8mm bolts in this order: first, remove 2 bolts from the rearward hanger bracket on both sides of the vehicle (4 bolts total), then remove 2 bolts from the forward hanger brackets. After removing these bolts, unhook all 4 hanger brackets to lower the exhaust.
Tighten all M8 CL10.9 fasteners to 20 lb-ft (27 N·M) and all M10 fasteners to 38 lb-ft (52 N·M) using a torque wrench. These fasteners secure the hanger brackets after the hitch installation is complete.
Lower the exhaust by adjusting the ratchet strap until there is enough room for the hitch to slide in. Ensure that the side brackets are positioned over the fishwires before proceeding to remove the fishwires and install the fasteners.
First, tighten all 7/16 inch hitch fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·M). Then, re-hook the hanger brackets and reinstall the M8 bolts. Finally, tighten all M8 CL10.9 fasteners to 20 lb-ft (27 N·M) and all M10 fasteners to 38 lb-ft (52 N·M) using a torque wrench.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual emphasizes that proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced immediately.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
You need a ratchet strap to support the exhaust after unhooking the hanger brackets. The ratchet strap holds the exhaust in place while you route the hitch fasteners and lower the exhaust to create clearance for the hitch.
Conical washers (6 included in kit 24928F) are installed on both sides of the hitch after the fishwires are removed. They are used with the 7/16 inch hex nuts to secure the carriage bolts to the frame rail.
Six 7/16 inch carriage bolts are used to mount the hitch: 2 bolts of 7/16 inch-14 x 1.50 GR5 and 4 bolts of 7/16 inch-14 x 1.25 GR5. Each bolt is paired with a spacer, conical washer, and hex nut.
Spacers (6 included, each 1/4 inch x 1 inch x 3 inch) are installed with the 7/16 inch carriage bolts. They are routed through the frame rail access hole along with the bolts to properly position the fasteners in the mounting holes.
The average installation time is 30 minutes for professional installers on standard Mustang models. For convertible models, an additional 60 minutes is required, for a total of approximately 90 minutes. If you do not feel comfortable performing the installation or need assistance, contact a professional installer.
Load the trailer heavier in front. Always wear your seatbelt. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up.
The 24928 hitch comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty covering material defects in materials and workmanship, excluding ordinary wear and tear. The warranty is valid only if products are returned for inspection, the defect is not caused by misuse, neglect, improper installation, or accident, and the product was installed and maintained according to instructions. Product replacement is the sole remedy. Contact Cequent at 1-800-632-3290 or 47912 Halyard Drive, Suite 100, Plymouth, MI 48170 to initiate a warranty claim.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected before installation.
No permanent modifications are required. The hitch uses existing frame rail access holes and mounting holes. The manual explicitly states: 'DO NOT cut, weld or modify this receiver.' Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
The manual does not address interference with spare tires, bumpers, steps, or other vehicle components.
No. The drawbar kit (part number 3594) is sold separately. The drawbar must be used in the RISE position only.
After lowering the exhaust, the side brackets of the hitch must be positioned directly over the fishwires that are routing the carriage bolts through the frame rail. This ensures proper alignment before the fishwires are removed and the fasteners are permanently secured.
