The pull wire system uses a coiled wire (fish wire) to thread fasteners through frame holes that are difficult to access. The coiled end of the pull wire is fed through the forward attachment hole and out the access hole. The spacer and carriage bolt are threaded onto the pull wire, then the pull wire is pulled to draw the fasteners into position. The pull wire remains attached until the conical washer and hex nut are installed.
The reverse pull wire procedure is used to install fasteners on the rear side of the frame rails. The carriage bolt is threaded onto the pull wire and fed into the access hole on the frame rail, then the spacer is fed onto the pull wire and into the access hole, and finally the carriage bolt is pulled into position through the spacer.
Plastic fascia rivets may be present. If they are present, remove them by extracting the center of the rivet with a flat-head screwdriver. Keep the rivets for reinstallation after the hitch is installed.
The conical washer must be positioned with the teeth side against the hitch. The conical washer is used to hold the bolt in place before the hex nut is attached.

The black box-module must be mounted in the interior of the vehicle only, on a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location that is free of moisture and high enough to prevent direct contact with water or liquid. It must never be mounted on the exterior or in areas exposed to the elements or moisture, as this could cause serious damage to the vehicle and module.
Starting on the driver's side, separate the vehicle's wiring connectors behind each taillight housing. Attach the T-Connector end containing yellow, brown, and red wires to the driver's side connector. Route the T-Connector containing the green wire below the threshold cover to the passenger's side taillight housing and repeat the connection. Ensure connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place and do not damage the locking tabs.
The driver's side T-Connector end contains yellow, brown, and red wires. The passenger's side T-Connector end contains the green wire. These connect to the matching connection points on the back of each vehicle taillight housing.
Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver's side near the taillight connectors. Drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire with an eyelet using the screw provided. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12 ga. wire from the T-Connector black box-module with the supplied yellow butt connector. Route the black wire either through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery, avoiding areas that may pinch or break the wire. After disconnecting the negative battery cable, remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder, cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable, and connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire using the yellow butt connector.
The yellow fuse holder is provided with the T-Connector. If not already removed, remove the fuse from it. Cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable, and connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire using the yellow butt connector provided.
Locate the T-Connector's grey 12-pin connector and insert it into the mating connector located on the black box-module. Ensure the mating surfaces of the wiring connectors match, that all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt, and that connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs.
Do not exceed the lower of the vehicle manufacturer's rating or: maximum stop/turn light 2 per side (4.2 amps), or maximum tail lights (7.5 amps). Overloading the circuit can cause fires. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual and instruction sheet for additional information.
