Yes. The bumper must be removed using six 12 mm bolts. The original bolts are reused to secure the hitch in place after installation. The bumper hanger support must also be bent to approximately 90 degrees for clearance.

The fastener kit 24942F includes: (1) U-bolt 3/8-16 GR5, (2) conical washers 3/8", and (2) hex nuts 3/8-16. The conical washers have teeth that must face against the hitch.

The following must be removed: (2) plastic rivets from the fascia tabs, tail lights and their wiring, lower trunk gasket, lower rear fascia (which requires removing 6 Phillips screws total), and the rear bumper (6 bolts using 12 mm socket). All components except the gasket are reinstalled after hitch installation.
Remove the center of each plastic rivet using a small flat-head screwdriver. Keep the rivets for reinstallation after the hitch is mounted.
First, remove the plastic cover disc that covers the screw on the tail light using a small screwdriver. Remove the fasteners with a 10 mm socket (3 fasteners per side). To remove the tail light, gently push rearward on the tail light at the back while gently pulling outward from the forward end. Disconnect the wiring and set the light aside.
Remove (2) Phillips screws in the wheel well on both sides. Remove (1) Phillips screw on each side inside the fascia at the lower attachment points between the rear fascia and rear side panel (both sides). Gently separate the fascia from the rear side panel by pulling upward. Apply minimum pressure to tabs on the inside of the rear fascia if needed. At the tail lights, apply gentle pressure to support bracket tabs. Continue pulling gently while lifting upward from the bottom of the fascia. Carefully set the fascia aside.
The bumper hanger support must be bent to approximately 90 degrees using pliers to provide clearance for the hitch to fit properly between the bumper and the vehicle's end panel.
1. Hang the U-bolt on the tow hook. 2. Raise the hitch and hang it on the bumper support on the end panel. 3. Raise the bumper to sandwich the hitch between the bumper and end panel. 4. Align the holes and reinstall the original bolts removed from the bumper. 5. Tighten the bolts to hold the hitch in place. 6. Install the remaining fastener for the tow hook.
Yes. The original bolts removed from the bumper in step 4 are reinstalled to secure the hitch in place. These are the same bolts that sandwich the hitch between the bumper and the vehicle's end panel.

A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch.
Always wear your seatbelt. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. Load the trailer heavier in front. If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up. Always read and follow all warnings and instructions for your vehicle and other accessories used with the hitch.

Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole to secure the white ground wire. Before drilling, you must verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle and/or personal injury, and you must not drill into any exposed surfaces. The hole is drilled at a suitable grounding point near the connector after cleaning dirt and rustproofing from the area. The white wire is then secured using the eyelet and screw provided.
Yes. On the driver's side, you must slit the grommet enough to allow the trailer wiring harness access to the taillight assemblies. After routing the T-connector with yellow and brown wires through the grommet, you reseat the grommet. The same process is repeated on the passenger's side for the T-connector end with the green wire.
The T-One® T-Connector uses color-coded wires: yellow wire connects to the driver's side 2-pin connector; brown wire connects to the driver's side 3-pin connector; green wire connects to the passenger's side (repeating the same connections as the driver's side); white wire is the ground wire, drilled and secured to a grounding point; and black wire connects to the vehicle's positive battery terminal through a 15 amp fuse holder. The black wire from the T-One® black box module is connected to the vehicle's black 12 gauge wire using a yellow butt connector.
A 15 amp fuse is used in the T-One® T-Connector. The fuse is installed in the yellow fuse holder provided with the kit and is connected between the black 12 gauge wire and the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. The fuse protects the circuit from overload.
From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12 gauge wire from the T-One® black box to the vehicle's black 12 gauge wire using the supplied yellow butt connector. Then route the black wire either through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow the existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery. Avoid areas that may pinch or break the wire. If routing through a grommet and along the exterior, be careful to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.
After disconnecting the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable, cut the fuse holder wire and attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 gauge wire using the yellow butt connector provided. Then reconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder. Do not exceed the product ratings or towing manufacturing rating stated in your vehicle owner's manual.
On the driver's side, locate and disconnect the black 2-pin connector, then insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place, ensuring connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Then locate and disconnect the black 3-pin connector and insert the T-Connector end with the brown wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place. Repeat this process on the passenger's side using the T-Connector end with the green wire, connecting to the same connector types.

Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way place and mount the T-One® black box module to prevent damage or rattling. The module should be secured away from areas where it could be struck or cause interference with vehicle operation.
Secure the remainder of the T-One® T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire. When reinstalling the taillight housing assemblies, position the vehicle wiring harness between the housing and the vehicle body, and be careful not to pinch or cut the wires.
Store the 4-flat connector in the trunk area when not in use. This protects it from damage and keeps it readily available for when you need to tow.
