DRAW-TITE: North America?s Favorite Hitch

Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes. Step 2 of the installation requires removing the passenger side (RH) dust panel. Using a flathead screwdriver, remove (2) plastic rivets and using a 10 mm socket, remove (1) M10 nut. Return the dust panel to the vehicle owner after installation is complete.
The pull wires are used to guide the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers through the frame access holes. Feed the bolts and spacers through the access holes on the underside of the frame using the pull wires through the mounting holes on the outside face of the frame on both sides. Leave the pull wire attached until you raise the hitch into position, then slide the wires and bolts through the hitch mounting holes and remove the pull wire. Kink the pull wire to keep the spacer independent of the bolt.
The conical washer teeth side must be oriented against the hitch. This is shown in Figure 1 of the installation instructions and is critical for proper fastener engagement and load distribution.
Yes. When installing the hitch, loosely secure the conical washer and 7/16" nuts in Step 3(b). Only after the hitch is in position should you tighten all 7/16" fasteners with a torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·M) in Step 4.
The installation sequence is: (1) Lower the muffler by removing exhaust hanger rods from rubber isolators on driver side, passenger side, and forward side; (2) Remove the passenger side dust panel using a flathead screwdriver and 10 mm socket; (3a) Install carriage bolts by removing rubber plugs from frame access holes and feeding bolts and spacers through using pull wires; (3b) Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure conical washers and nuts; (4) Tighten all 7/16" fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. The rubber plugs in frame access holes are located on the underside of the frame forward from the mounting holes. The mounting holes are located on the outside face of the frame on both sides (driver and passenger sides). Access holes must be cleared of rubber plugs before feeding bolts and spacers through.
After installation, verify that the exhaust is properly re-attached and rubber plugs are re-inserted in all frame access holes. Check that all fasteners are tight and the hitch is securely mounted. The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If the hitch is removed at any time, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Periodically verify that all fasteners are tight and the hitch is securely mounted to the vehicle. This is important for safe towing operation.
The maximum tongue weight is 300 lb. (136 kg). Do not exceed this limit or the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating. Proper tongue weight distribution is critical for safe towing.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is damaged, it must be removed and replaced. Use a stand to support the muffler and prevent damage when lowering it. Do not cut, weld, or modify the receiver.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair or continue using a damaged hitch. Contact Horizon Global at 800-632-3290 for replacement parts or warranty service.
Always wear your seatbelt. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. Load the trailer heavier in front. The manual does not specify that the battery must be disconnected for hitch 76599 installation. However, since the installation involves working beneath the vehicle and removing the exhaust, standard vehicle safety precautions should be observed.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing frame access holes and mounting holes on the vehicle. The installation uses carriage bolts fed through these pre-existing holes using pull wires. The manual explicitly states: do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
No. The manual explicitly states: "DO NOT cut, weld or modify this receiver." The installation is non-permanent and uses only bolted connections to the vehicle frame. All modifications are reversible.
The manual states that the average installation time for professional installers is 35 minutes. It recommends: "If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation on your own or are in need of assistance, please contact a professional installer." The decision depends on your mechanical skill and comfort level working beneath a vehicle.
The manual does not specify whether a lift or jack is required. However, since the installation involves working beneath the vehicle and accessing frame holes on the underside, you will likely need to raise the vehicle safely. Always use appropriate lifting equipment and safety stands when working beneath a vehicle.
The carriage bolts are 7/16"-14 x 1.25, Grade 5 (GR5). Four bolts are included in Fastener Kit 76599F. These bolts are fed through frame access holes using pull wires and secured with conical washers and hex nuts.
The spacers are .109 x .88 x 2.00 inches. Four spacers are included in Fastener Kit 76599F. The spacers are placed on the carriage bolts and kept independent of the bolt by kinking the pull wire.
You need an 11/16" socket to work with the 7/16" hex nuts. The manual also lists a 10 mm socket for removing the passenger side dust panel nut. A 6" socket extension is recommended for accessing fasteners.
Remove the exhaust hanger rod from the rubber isolator on the driver side, passenger side, and forward side of the muffler. Use a stand to support the muffler and prevent it from being damaged. The muffler must be lowered to provide access to the frame mounting holes.
The pull wires are used to guide the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers through the frame access holes from underneath the vehicle. The bolts and spacers are fed through the access holes using the pull wires, which pass through the mounting holes on the outside face of the frame. The pull wire is left attached until the hitch is raised into position, then removed after the bolts are threaded through the hitch mounting holes.
Kink the pull wire to keep the spacer independent of the bolt. This prevents the spacer from sliding along the bolt during installation and ensures proper alignment when the fasteners are tightened.
Remove the rubber plugs from the frame access holes located on the underside of the frame forward from the mounting holes. After the hitch installation is complete and the exhaust is re-attached, re-insert the rubber plugs in the access holes. This prevents entry of water and exhaust fumes.
All 7/16" fasteners must be tightened to 68 N·M (which equals 50 Lb.-Ft.). Use a calibrated torque wrench to achieve this specification.
The hex nuts are Grade 2 (GR2), 7/16"-14. Four nuts are included in Fastener Kit 76599F and must be tightened to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·M).
The manual lists all three part numbers (76599, 84599, CQT76599) as having the same applications and specifications for 2018-Current Hyundai Kona. The manual does not explain the differences between these part numbers. Contact Horizon Global at 800-632-3290 or visit www.horizonglobal.com for clarification on which part number is appropriate for your specific vehicle.
Check that all fasteners are tight using a torque wrench. Tighten all 7/16" fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·M). The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If fasteners repeatedly loosen, verify that the conical washer teeth side is oriented against the hitch and that all fasteners are torqued to specification.
If the hitch was removed or if access holes were left unplugged, water and exhaust fumes can enter through the frame holes. Plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels immediately. If the hitch is removed in the future, ensure all holes are plugged to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.

The negative cable is disconnected again at step 11 before connecting the fuse holder to the positive battery terminal. Reconnect the negative cable at step 15 after the fuse is installed.
Yes. A 3/32" hole must be drilled to secure the white ground wire using the eyelet and screw provided. You may use an existing ground stud if available. Do not drill into the vehicle floor, bed, or any exposed surfaces. Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
The product uses a 15 amp fuse, which is installed in the yellow fuse holder provided in the hardware kit. The fuse is connected to the positive battery cable via a ring terminal and heat shrink butt connector.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Do not touch the negative battery terminal to the positive battery terminal, as this can cause serious injury and damage to the vehicle's electrical system. Do not exceed the towing or amperage ratings stated on the product or in your vehicle owner's manual. Overloading circuits can cause fires. When routing wires, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, and other points that may pinch or break the wire.
After installation is complete, test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-One® Connector to function properly. Reconnect the negative battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse before testing.
Clean the 4-Way flat connector after each use. Perform a pre-trip inspection of the 4-Way flat harness to ensure no damage to terminals and connection points. Ensure the harness does not get pinched in door latches, trailer connection points, or contact the road surface. Clean the connection and add dielectric grease (sold separately) to the terminal pins.
Part number 118883 is a T-One® Connector manufactured by Horizon Global. It is a trailer wiring harness that connects your vehicle's electrical system to a trailer's lighting system. The connector includes a black module box that interfaces with your vehicle's taillight wiring and provides a 4-Way flat connector for trailer connection.
Yes, but with a critical restriction: if your vehicle is equipped with the Start/Stop option, you must connect the module only to the main vehicle battery. Do not connect the module power wire to the support battery. Failure to connect to the vehicle main battery may result in damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
The installation difficulty is rated as Expert. Installation times are listed on Horizon Global's website or in downloadable application guides. The difficulty level is based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on installer expertise and vehicle condition. Proper tools and equipment are required.
Yes. The first step is to open the rear hatch. On the driver's side, you must remove the plastic threshold cover, cargo trays, and side panel to expose the vehicle's taillight wiring harness. Be careful not to break the mounting tabs when removing these components.
The T-One® Connector uses the following wire colors: brown and red wires connect to the driver's side taillight connector; yellow wire connects to the driver's side taillight in the bumper; green wire connects to the passenger's side taillight in the bumper; white wire is the ground wire that connects to a ground stud or drilled hole; black 12 ga. wire connects from the positive battery terminal through the fuse holder to the black power wire on the module's black box.
The connection sequence is: (1) Disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable. (2) Cut the fuse holder wire and attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. (3) Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire using a yellow heat shrink butt connector. (4) Route the black 12 ga. wire from the front of the vehicle rearward along the frame rail, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, and fuel tank. (5) Route the wire through the slit grommet into the vehicle body. (6) Connect the other end to the black power wire on the module's black box using another yellow heat shrink butt connector. (7) Heat each shrink connector from center outward until the tubing shrinks and sealant flows, then allow to cool. (8) Reconnect the negative battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse.
Mount the T-One® Connector black box behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver's side, from inside the cargo area behind the partially removed trim panel close to the grommet. Use the double-sided tape provided. Before mounting, clean the flat mount surface area with a 50-50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water to ensure proper adhesion.
After routing the yellow and green wires through the slit grommet, add silicone rubber (not included with the product) to seal the grommet where it was slit. Ensure the silicone and grommet make a tight seal to prevent moisture or dirt from entering the vehicle.
The yellow and green wires are routed as follows: (1) From the driver's side, locate the grommet underneath the exposed area after removing the threshold cover and side panel. (2) Carefully slit the grommet so both wires and the T-One® Connector ends pass through to the other side of the vehicle body. (3) Route the yellow wire harness underneath the vehicle through the opening between the bumper and body to the driver's side taillight in the bumper. (4) Route the green wire harness to the passenger side, down and underneath the vehicle, then up through the opening between the bumper and body to the passenger's side taillight in the bumper. (5) When routing along the exterior, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, and other points that may pinch or break the wire.
The connection sequence is: (1) Disconnect the vehicle's taillight wiring harness on the driver's side. (2) Insert the T-One® Connector end containing brown and red wires between the vehicle and driver's side taillight connector. (3) Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. (4) Route yellow and green wires through the grommet. (5) Insert the yellow wire connector end between the vehicle and driver's side taillight connector in the bumper. (6) Insert the green wire connector end between the vehicle and passenger's side taillight connector in the bumper. (7) All connector surfaces must be clean and free of dirt for proper function.
On the passenger's side underneath the vehicle, locate the black environmental cover. Using a trim panel tool, carefully remove the 3 plastic clips without damaging them. Using a 10 mm socket, remove the plastic nut and set the cover aside. This provides access to route the green wire to the passenger's side taillight.
After all wiring is complete, reinstall any items that were removed during installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires. Route the 4-Flat Connector through the driver's side panel and threshold into the storage compartment and store it there when not in use.
The yellow heat shrink butt connectors are used to splice the fuse holder wire to the black 12 ga. power wire, and to connect the black 12 ga. wire to the black power wire on the module's black box. After inserting the wires into the connector, heat it with a heat gun starting from the center of the splice connector and working outward to the edges on each end until the tubing shrinks and sealant flows. Allow to cool before inspecting the splice to ensure a proper seal.
The white wire is the ground wire. Locate a suitable grounding point near the black module box, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed. Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area before securing the ground connection. Ensure all existing ground connections remain attached and torque the existing ground screw to manufacturer torque specifications.
If the 4-Way is not functioning, check the following: (1) Ensure T-One Connector ends are fully inserted and locked in place. (2) Remove the module's power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat the test. (3) Check chassis grounds and ensure ring terminals are in full contact with the vehicle chassis. (4) Remove the module's power fuse. If there is no power to the 4-Way, ensure the fuse is fully inserted into the fuse holder with no breaks, the fuse holder is connected properly to the positive post of the battery, and the module is connected to B+. Use a tester or voltmeter to check for voltage on either side of the yellow butt connector near the module. (5) If installation activated circuit protection, start the vehicle and turn off all functions (tail/headlights, brake, turns), then remove the module power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat the test.
Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturing rating (including in your vehicle owner's manual) or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product. Overloading circuits can cause fires. You must read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle's battery. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual and the product instructions for additional information on ratings and limitations.
Before each trip, perform a pre-trip inspection of the 4-Way flat harness to ensure there is no damage to terminals and connection points for proper lighting connection and operation. Ensure the 4-Way flat harness does not get pinched in door latches, trailer connection points, or allow contact with the road surface. Clean the 4-Way flat connector and add dielectric grease (sold separately) to the terminal pins.
The hardware kit includes: perma seal butt connectors, ring terminals, #8 screws, 15 amp fuse, double-sided tape, fuse holder, test light, 3/32" drill bit, 10 mm socket, ratchet, fish wire, and 6" wire ties. Additional items required but not included are a heat gun and silicone rubber for sealing the grommet.
