Feed the carriage bolt and spacer through the access hole using pull wires. 5. Reverse the pull wire procedure with the second carriage bolt and spacer in the access hole. 6. Raise the hitch and feed the pull wire through the hitch bracket slot. 7. Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washers and hex nuts. 8. Loosely secure the center bracket to the tow hook with the 1/2" carriage bolt, spacer, conical washer, and nut. 9. Tighten all 7/16" fasteners to 50 Ft.-Lb. (68 N·M). 10. Tighten all 1/2" fasteners to 75 Ft.-Lb. (102 N·M). 11. Reinstall the exhaust.
Pull wires are used to feed the carriage bolts and spacers through the frame access holes. Feed the carriage bolt and spacer (rearmost hole) through the access hole using the pull wires. Then reverse the pull wire procedure to install the carriage bolt and spacer in the other access hole. Leave pull wires attached. After raising the hitch, feed the previously installed pull wire through the hitch bracket slot. Finally, remove all pull wires before installing the conical washers and hex nuts. Kink the pull wire to keep the spacer independent of the bolt.
Loosely install means to hand-tighten fasteners without using a torque wrench. During installation, the conical washers and hex nuts on the frame attachment points, and the center bracket fasteners to the tow hook, are initially installed loose. Only after all loose fasteners are in place do you use a torque wrench to tighten all 7/16" fasteners to 50 Ft.-Lb. (68 N·M) and all 1/2" fasteners to 75 Ft.-Lb. (102 N·M).
Conical washers are used to secure the fasteners and distribute load. The conical washer teeth side must be oriented against the hitch. Conical washers are installed on both the 7/16" fasteners (4 total) and the 1/2" fastener (1 total) at the tow hook connection.
Using masking tape, secure two flat washers to the rearmost attachment points on the frame. The flat washers are positioned at these points before feeding the carriage bolts and spacers through the access holes.
Enlarge the access holes as needed to fit the carriage bolt and spacers on each side. The manual does not specify an exact enlarged hole size; enlargement is done to fit the specific fastener and spacer dimensions. Use a die grinder to perform this enlargement.

The T-One® Connector is a trailer tow harness connector that integrates with your vehicle's taillight system to provide trailer lighting control. It uses a black box module mounted underneath the vehicle that connects to both the driver's and passenger's side taillights via yellow and green wires, allowing your trailer lights to function in sync with your vehicle's lighting.
The manual shows the T-One® Connector 118877-037 installed on a Honda HR-V. However, the manual does not provide a complete list of compatible vehicles or model years. Contact the manufacturer or your retailer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.

Starting on the driver's side and underneath the vehicle, route the harness containing the yellow wire up through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body to the driver's side taillight pocket. The manual recommends using a fish wire between the taillight pocket and rear fascia to pull the harness from underneath the vehicle out through the taillight pocket. Then insert the T-One® Connector end containing the yellow wire between the vehicle and taillight connector, ensuring all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.
Beginning underneath the vehicle, route the harness containing the green wire up through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body to the passenger's side taillight pocket. Use a fish wire between the taillight pocket and rear fascia to pull the harness from underneath the vehicle out through the taillight pocket. Then insert the T-One® Connector end containing the green wire between the vehicle and taillight connector, ensuring all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.
Mount the black box underneath the vehicle behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver's side using the double-sided tape provided. Before mounting, clean the flat mount surface area using a 50-50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water. Mount the module so that the epoxy side is pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
You may need to drill a hole for grounding. Locate a suitable grounding point near the black box, such as an existing ground stud. If no existing ground point is available, drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed. Before drilling, verify what is behind any surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury, and clean dirt and rustproofing from the area.
Disconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable. Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder if not already removed. Cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal, and secure it to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 gauge wire using the yellow butt connector provided. Route the black 12 gauge wire from the front of the vehicle rearward along the frame rail, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, and other points that may pinch or break the wire. Connect the other end of the black 12 gauge wire to the black power wire on the T-One® black box using the yellow butt connector provided.
Use a 15 amp fuse. The yellow fuse holder is provided with the kit. Install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder after all wiring connections are complete and the vehicle's negative battery cable has been reconnected.
The power wire is 12 gauge (12 ga.). This black 12 gauge wire connects from the vehicle's positive battery terminal through the fuse holder to the black power wire on the T-One® black box.
If routing the wire through a grommet and along the exterior of the vehicle, be careful to avoid any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any other points that may pinch or break the wire. This applies to both the yellow wire routed to the driver's side taillight and the green wire routed to the passenger's side taillight.
After installation, reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder. Reinstall all plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items that were removed, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires. Secure all loose wires and mount the trailer tow harness in an accessible location with a bracket or electrical box. Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
