Yes, the LoadLifter 5000 is designed for Ford F-53 Class A motorhome chassis. Two kits are available: kit 57410 and kit 57344. Your choice depends on your chassis weight class and the clearance available between your tire and frame. Kit 57410 requires a minimum of 9 inches clearance; kit 57344 requires a minimum of 8 inches.
The two kits differ in the air spring model and roll plate design. Kit 57410 uses air spring part 58116 and roll plate part 11897, and requires a minimum of 9 inches clearance between the tire and frame. Kit 57344 uses air spring part 58437 and roll plate part 11951, and requires a minimum of 8 inches clearance. The choice depends on your available clearance and chassis weight class (light chassis 18,000 GVWR and under, or heavy chassis 20,500/22,000 GVWR).
You need a minimum of 9 inches of clearance between the tire and frame for kit 57410, or a minimum of 8 inches for kit 57344. Measure this clearance before purchasing to ensure the kit will fit your vehicle.
No. The installation of the LoadLifter 5000 kit does not alter the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or payload of your vehicle. You must continue to follow your vehicle manufacturer's maximum load limits. Check your vehicle's owner's manual and Safety Compliance Certification Label for your GVWR and payload limits, and do not exceed them.
Required tools include: standard and metric open-end wrenches (set), adjustable wrench, ratchet with 9/16", 1/2", and 3/4" deep well sockets, 5/16" and 1/2" drill bits (very sharp), heavy-duty drill, hose cutter or sharp knife, hoist or floor jacks, two safety stands, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, and a spray bottle with dish soap and water solution for leak testing.

Yes. The first step is to raise the vehicle, remove the wheels, and obtain normal ride height. You will also need to remove the emergency brake cable bracket from the driver side spring retainer and both jounce bumpers from under the frame above the axle. Save these items for later use.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact Air Lift Company customer service at (800) 248-0892 for clarification on this step.
1. Set a roll plate (D) on both ends of the air spring (A) with the radiused edge toward the air spring. 2. Install a 90-degree elbow fitting (E) to the top of the air spring and tighten finger-tight plus 1½ turns; tighten only on the metal hex nut and do not over-tighten. 3. Install the upper bracket (B) using the rearward holes on both driver and passenger sides, with two 3/8" bolts (F), lock washers (G), and flat washers (H); tighten to 20 lb.-ft. 4. Use the template on page 11 to determine the correct mounting holes on the lower bracket (C). 5. Insert two carriage bolts (J) into the lower bracket and attach the air spring assembly using two 3/8" bolts (F), lock washers (G), and flat washers (H); tighten to 20 lb.-ft.
1. Set the assembly on the leaf spring forward of the axle with the rear of the lower bracket hooked around the forward U-bolt. 2. Loosely attach the upper bracket (B) to existing holes in the frame using a 1/2" HHCS bolt (I), two 1/2" flat washers (K), and a 1/2" nylon lock nut (L) through both lower mounting holes. If your vehicle has no existing holes, mark all four holes with the assembly in position, then drill them. 3. Center punch the mounting holes. 4. Drill 1/2" holes for both upper mounting holes (or all four if needed). 5. Secure the bracket to the frame using 1/2" HHCS bolts (I), 1/2" flat washers (K), and 1/2" nylon lock nuts (L); tighten to 80 lb.-ft. 6. Attach the lower bracket to the leaf spring using the clamp bar (N), 3/8" flat washers (H), and 3/8" nylon lock nuts (M); tighten the carriage bolt hardware to 16 lb.-ft.
Yes, you will need to drill 1/2" holes in the frame for the upper bracket mounting. If your vehicle has existing holes in the frame that align with the upper bracket, you can use those. If not, you must mark and drill new holes. You will also need to drill a 5/16" hole to install the inflation valves. Use very sharp 5/16" and 1/2" drill bits and a heavy-duty drill.
Cut the air line assembly in two equal lengths using a hose cutter, razor blade, or sharp knife only. Do not use wire cutters or scissors, as these tools may flatten or crimp the air line, causing it to leak around the O-ring seal inside the elbow fitting. A clean, square cut is essential to prevent leaks. After cutting, leave approximately 12" of extra air line when inserting it into the air fitting.
Torque specifications are: 3/8" bolts connecting the upper bracket to the air spring and roll plate: 20 lb.-ft.; 3/8" bolts connecting the air spring assembly to the lower bracket: 20 lb.-ft.; 1/2" HHCS bolts securing the upper bracket to the frame: 80 lb.-ft.; carriage bolt hardware attaching the lower bracket to the leaf spring: 16 lb.-ft.; elbow fitting to the top of the air spring: finger-tight plus 1½ turns (tighten only on the metal hex nut).
Popular locations for the inflation valves include: the wheel well flanges, license plate recess in the bumper, under the gas cap access door, or through the license plate itself. Choose a location with enough clearance around the inflation valves for an air chuck. Drill a 5/16" hole at your chosen location. After installation, approximately 1/2" of the valve should be exposed to easily apply a pressure gauge or air chuck.
Route the air line along the frame to the air fitting on the air spring. Maintain at least 6 inches of clearance between the air line and heat sources such as exhaust pipes, muffler, or catalytic converter. Avoid sharp bends and edges. Use plastic zip ties to secure the air line to fixed, non-moving points along the chassis. Ensure zip ties are tight but do not pinch the air line. Leave at least 2 inches of slack to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line.
Cut the air line to approximately 12" length using a hose cutter, razor blade, or sharp knife for a clean, square cut. Insert the air line into the 90-degree swivel elbow fitting on the air spring. This is a push-to-connect fitting; simply push the air line into the fitting until it bottoms out. Approximately 9/16" of air line should be inside the fitting.
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Never inflate the air springs beyond this pressure. The minimum recommended air pressure is 20 PSI (1.4 BAR). The actual air pressure needed depends on your load and GVWR. Always maintain normal ride height and do not exceed your vehicle's maximum GVWR or payload rating.
No. Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle. Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if not handled properly.
Perform the following checks in order: 1. Clearance test — Inflate to 40–60 PSI and verify at least 1/2" clearance from the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. 2. Leak test — Inflate to 40–60 PSI and check all connections for leaks using a soapy water solution; eliminate all leaks before road testing. 3. Heat test — Verify at least 6" clearance from heat sources (exhaust, muffler, catalytic converter). 4. Fastener test — After 500 miles, recheck all bolts for proper torque. 5. Road test — Drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.
