The LoadLifter 5000 is an air spring suspension support system that provides up to 5,000 pounds of load leveling support. It uses reinforced, commercial-grade convolute bellows manufactured with layers of rubber and cords to control growth. The system is air-adjustable from 5–100 PSI, allowing you to adjust suspension stiffness based on your load. It is designed for 3/4- and 1-ton pickups and SUVs with leaf springs.
The LoadLifter 5000 kit MN-505 (Kit 57154) is designed for Ford Excursion, F-250/F-350 Super Duty, and F-450/F-550 Commercial vehicles. If your vehicle is one of these models, the kit is compatible. For other Ford models or to confirm fitment for your specific year and configuration, contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Your vehicle may be equipped with a rear brake proportioning valve, which could be affected by load assist products. If your vehicle does NOT have a rear brake proportioning valve, or is equipped with an anti-lock brake system (ABS), installation of the LoadLifter 5000 will have NO EFFECT on brake system performance. Check with your dealer before installing if you are unsure whether your vehicle has a rear brake proportioning valve.
No. The installation of the LoadLifter 5000 kit does not alter the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload of the vehicle. You must not exceed the maximum load listed in your vehicle's owner's manual and on the vehicle's Safety Compliance Certification Label. GVWR is the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle including passengers and cargo. Payload is the combined maximum allowable weight of cargo and passengers (GVWR minus base curb weight).
Required tools include: jack, safety stands or hoist, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, spray bottle with dish soap/water solution, 1/2" and 9/16" open-end box wrenches, adjustable wrench, ratchet with 9/16" and 1/2" deep well sockets, 5/16" drill bits (very sharp), heavy duty drill, torque wrench, hose cutter or razor blade or sharp knife, and 3/4" wrench.
The kit includes: 2 air springs (58407), 1 LH upper bracket (07465), 1 RH upper bracket (07466), 2 lower brackets (03430), 2 U-bolts (10594), 2 clamp bars (01475), 4 3/8"-16 x 1 1/2" bolts (17108), 8 nylon lock nuts (18435), 4 3/8" flat washers (18447), 12 3/8" SAE flat washers (18444), 8 3/8"-24 x 7/8" bolts (20203), 8 3/8" lock washers (18427), 2 straight fittings (21839), 1 air line assembly (20086), 6 zip ties (10466), 2 valve caps (21230), 2 M8 flat washers (18501), 2 rubber washers (21234), 2 star washers (18411), 4 5/16" hex nuts (21233), and 2 thermal sleeves (09484).
Normal Ride Height is the distance between the bottom edge of the wheel-well and the center of the hub with the vehicle in the "as delivered" condition. You must measure this before installation to establish a baseline. Remove unusual loads, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface, and if leaf springs are sagging badly, use a jack to raise the rear end to the original "as delivered" ride height. Record this measurement in inches—it is essential for proper installation and operation.
The lower bracket (D) must be secured to the air spring with two 3/8"-24 x 7/8" hex head bolts (K), lock washers (L), and flat washers (J). Torque these bolts to 20 lb.-ft (27 Nm).
The jounce bumper bracket bolts must be torqued to 10 lb.-ft (14 Nm).
The U-bolt (E) and clamp bar (F) assembly must be torqued to 16 lb.-ft (22 Nm). Install two 3/8" nylon lock nuts (H) on the U-bolt.
Install the air fitting (M) into the air spring finger-tight plus 1 1/2 turns. Do not over-tighten.
Yes. You must choose locations for the Schrader valves and drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole if necessary. Suggested locations are: inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area. Use a 5/16" drill bit to create the hole for the valve installation.
Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as these will damage the line and create a poor seal.
Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on it. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system, and avoid sharp bends and edges.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). However, the actual air pressure needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI, and always maintain normal ride height. The air pressure actually needed depends on your load—do not exceed your vehicle's GVWR or payload rating.
Before operating, perform these checks in order: (1) Clearance test—inflate to 40–60 PSI and verify at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. (2) Leak test—inflate to 40–60 PSI and check all connections for leaks using soapy water; all leaks must be eliminated before road testing. (3) Heat test—ensure at least 6" (152 mm) clearance from heat sources for air springs and air lines; install heat shield if included. (4) Fastener test—recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test—drive 10 miles (16 km) and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR). If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.
Air Lift Company provides a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser that the products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials when used on cars and trucks as specified by Air Lift Company and under normal operating conditions. The full Limited Warranty and Return Policy is available at www.airliftcompany.com/warranty. Failure to maintain correct minimum pressure, bottoming out, overextension, or rubbing against another component will void the warranty.
Yes, the LoadLifter 5000 kit MN-505 (Kit 57154) is designed for Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty vehicles. For specific year and configuration confirmation, contact Air Lift at (800) 248-0892.
Yes. You must measure the Normal Ride Height—the distance between the bottom edge of the wheel-well and the center of the hub with the vehicle in "as delivered" condition—before beginning installation. This is essential for proper setup.
Yes. You must drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole for each Schrader valve. Suggested locations are inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area.
Lower bracket bolts: 20 lb.-ft (27 Nm). Jounce bumper bracket bolts: 10 lb.-ft (14 Nm). U-bolt and clamp bar: 16 lb.-ft (22 Nm). Frame rail bolts should be tightened securely. Air fitting: finger-tight plus 1 1/2 turns.
Maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Never inflate beyond 100 PSI, and always maintain normal ride height.
Perform a clearance test (1/2" minimum from tires, brakes, frame, shocks, cables), leak test (soapy water at 40–60 PSI), heat test (6" clearance from exhaust), fastener test (recheck all torque), and a 10-mile road test before normal operation.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR).
Use a spray bottle with a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. Inflate the air springs to 40–60 PSI (2.8–4.1 BAR) and apply the soapy water to all connections. Bubbles will form at the location of any leak. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Inflate the air springs to 40–60 PSI (2.8–4.1 BAR) and check for at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve, including the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. If rubbing is detected, reposition the assembly or brackets to achieve the required clearance. Rubbing against another component will void the warranty.
Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. If there is no heat shield but one is required, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892 to obtain one. Insufficient clearance from heat sources can damage the air springs and air lines.
