The LoadLifter 5000 is an air spring suspension support system that provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support. The air springs are manufactured with layers of rubber and cords, similar to a tire, and allow air adjustability from 5 to 100 PSI (0.34 to 7 BAR). There are four kit versions: Standard LoadLifter 5000 (Zytel plastic end cap and zinc-plated steel roll plates), LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate (Zytel plastic end cap and black powder-coated roll plates), Standard Air Lift ProSeries 93-Series (aluminum end cap and zinc-plated steel roll plates), and Air Lift ProSeries 77-Series (Zytel plastic end cap and zinc-plated steel roll plates). You can identify your kit by examining the end caps on the air springs and the roll plates.
Required tools include: standard and metric open-end or box wrenches (set), 9/16" ratchet wrench, ratchet, standard and metric regular and deep-well sockets (set), torque wrench, die grinder or angle grinder with cut-off wheel, 7/32" hex-key wrench (socket preferable), needle nose pliers, china marker or equivalent, hose cutter, razor blade or sharp knife, hoist or floor jack, safety glasses, two safety stands, black paint or undercoating, air compressor or compressed air source, and spray bottle with dish soap/water solution.
Professional mechanic skills are required to complete the installation of this kit, as stated in the installation manual. The installation involves cutting and grinding the jounce bumper bracket, drilling holes, torquing fasteners to specific values, and routing air lines with precise clearance requirements.
The vehicle must be lifted and supported with safety stands, leaving enough room to drop the axle low enough to set the air spring assemblies into position between the frame and axle. The jounce bumpers must be removed by twisting and pulling them from the mounting cups. The jounce bumper brackets must be cut using a die grinder or angle grinder with a cut-off wheel, and the brake line holder on the inside of the left frame must be spaced up using a spacer and M8-1.25 x 35 hex flange bolt.

Strike a line with a china marker on the jounce bumper bracket beside and above the bottom of the frame, then cut along the line. Stop slightly short of the frame and do not cut into the frame itself. Tap the bracket with a hammer for final removal. Sharp edges must be removed and exposed surfaces painted with black paint or undercoating.
Yes, if necessary. You must choose locations for the Schrader valves and drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole if one does not already exist. The manual suggests three possible locations: inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area.
The 3/8"-24 x 3/4" flat-head socket cap screws (K) that attach the roll plate and lower brackets to the air spring must be torqued to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). All lower assembly carriage bolts (G) connecting the assemblies to the axle and jounce bumper strike plate must be torqued to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm).
The frame brace hardware and upper bracket to brace hardware must be torqued to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm). However, the upper bracket/air spring hardware (3/8"-24 x 7/8" hex cap screws) should be snugged only and not over-tightened, as there is no way to access these bolts with a torque wrench.
Air lines should be routed along the top of the frame, forward of the axle, then down to the fitting. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis without pinching or kinking it. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for movement. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges.
The air line thermal sleeve is a protective covering that should be installed over the nylon air line on the passenger's (right) side before inserting the line into the fitting. It should be slid over the nylon air line and placed where the air line is closest to the exhaust. This protects the air line from heat damage. The thermal sleeve should be positioned with at least 1/2" (13 mm) of dead air space between the heat shield and exhaust.
The minimum recommended air pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR) and the maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond 100 PSI. The air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating.

Perform the following checks: (1) Clearance test—inflate air springs to 40-60 PSI and ensure at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. (2) Leak test—inflate to 40-60 PSI and check all connections for leaks before road testing. (3) Heat test—verify at least 6" (152 mm) clearance from heat sources. (4) Fastener test—after 500 miles, recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test—drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and air leaks.

All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road-tested. If a leak is found, deflate and remove the air spring for repair or replacement.

The upper bracket/air spring hardware (3/8"-24 x 7/8" hex cap screws) cannot be accessed with a torque wrench due to their location. Snug these bolts only using a 3/8" ratcheting wrench and do not over-tighten. Do not attempt to apply a specific torque value to these fasteners.
If the lower nut on the frame/brace interface on the passenger's side is not accessible with a torque wrench due to the exhaust, use a ratcheting wrench and tighten securely. This nut should still be torqued to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm) if possible, but if inaccessible, tighten it as much as possible with the ratcheting wrench.
Inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI and check for at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. If clearance is insufficient, the installation may not be correct. Verify that all components are properly positioned and that the upper air spring assembly is adjusted to be as close to perpendicular as possible to the upper and lower brackets.
