Lift the vehicle and support the frame with safety stands. Drop the axle down low enough to provide clearance for the air springs. This allows you to access the jounce bumpers and prepare the frame for bracket installation.
After removing the factory jounce bumpers with a 13 mm socket and extension, thread an M10 flange head bolt (part number U) into the threaded holes. Leave approximately 1/2 inch (13 mm) gap between the bolt flange and the frame.
Torque the M10 flange head bolt (part number U) that secures the upper bracket to 30 lb.-ft. (41 Nm). Ensure the vertical portion of the bracket is touching the inside side of the frame before tightening.

Yes, trimming is required. You must trim a small portion of the brake line bracket on the left side of the axle to make proper clearance for the lower bracket. Measure approximately 1.375 inches (35 mm) from the edge of the bracket and make the cut using a cutoff wheel, air reciprocating saw, or hacksaw. Use caution to ensure the brake line and wire harness have proper clearance to avoid damage from the saw or grinding wheel.
The air spring should be aligned so that it is as perpendicular to the upper and lower brackets as possible. This is achieved by pushing the air spring assembly front or back to achieve proper alignment before final torque.
Both the upper and lower air spring mounting hardware should be torqued to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). This applies to the 3/8 inch hex head bolts (part number H), lock washers (part number I), and flat washers (part number J) used at both the upper and lower brackets.
Install the 1/4 inch air fitting (part number G) into the airport on top of the air spring (part number E). Tighten the fitting finger-tight plus 1 1/2 turns. Do not over-tighten.
Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as these will damage the air line. After cutting, install the air line thermal sleeve (part number K) over the air line on the passenger's (right) side before inserting into the fitting.
The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1 inch (25 mm). Avoid sharp bends and edges. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis without pinching or kinking it. Leave at least 2 inches (50 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line.
The minimum recommended air pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond 100 PSI.
Keep at least 6 inches (150 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. If there is no heat shield but one is required, contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR) and ensure there is at least 1/2 inch (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve. Be sure to check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables.
Complete the following checks: (1) Clearance test – inflate to 40-60 PSI and verify at least 1/2 inch clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables; (2) Leak test – inflate to 40-60 PSI and check all connections for leaks; (3) Heat test – verify at least 6 inches clearance from heat sources; (4) Fastener test – after 500 miles, recheck all bolts for proper torque; (5) Road test – drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR). If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring. After 500 miles (800 km), recheck all bolts for proper torque.
Do not exceed the maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. Although the air springs are rated at a maximum inflation pressure of 100 PSI (7 BAR), the air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating.
Torque the 3/8 inch clamp bar hardware (3/8 inch carriage bolts, flat washers, and nylon insert lock nuts) to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). Torque the 5/16 inch self-tapping screws first, then evenly torque the clamp bar hardware.
The 3/8 inch self-tapping screw (part number Q) should be torqued to 30 lb.-ft. (41 Nm). This screw is used for installations equipped with a 5th wheel hitch side mount bracket.
The left-hand ABS harness bracket (part number L) is inserted into the 'cup' of the ABS wiring harness and secured to the lower bracket with a 3/8 inch hex cap screw (part number T), 3/8 inch flat washer (part number J), and 3/8 inch nylon insert lock nut (part number Z). The right-hand wiring harness connector is installed onto the right-hand wiring harness bracket (part number M) and secured to the ABS/Brake line axle junction bracket with a 1/4 inch hex cap screw (part number S), 1/4 inch flat washer (part number W), and 1/4 inch nylon insert lock nut (part number X). Tighten all hardware securely.
