ARIES 3" side bars add a custom look and dependable footing to your truck, Jeep or SUV. They feature a classic style, a strong design and non-skid step pads. ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-strength steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Chevy or GMC C2500, C3500, K2500 and K3500 (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

Yes. The front cab mount bolt must be removed. Depending on its condition, you may be able to reuse the existing bolt. The bolt is then reinstalled through the front step bar mounting bracket with a flat washer and hand-tightened before final torque.
Yes. The nut must be removed from the rear body hold down bolt, which is located on the lower edge of the frame rail directly behind the front spring hanger on the rear suspension. The rear step bar mounting bracket is then inserted through the gap between the front spring hanger and frame, positioned so the bolt passes through the bracket hole, and hand-tightened with a 12mm flat washer, M12 lock washer, and 1/2" hex nut.
Yes. Two drilling operations are required: (1) one 12mm mounting hole per side in the leaf spring hanger back plate for the rear bracket, and (2) one 12mm mounting hole per side in the lower inside edge of the front spring hanger for the rear support bracket. Both holes must be marked with the bracket in position before drilling.
Position the rear bracket inside the step bar mounting bracket, temporarily support the bar to the leaf spring hanger back plate, ensure the side bar is level to the vehicle, and mark the hole location. Move the bracket away from the back plate before drilling. Repeat on the other side.
Remove the rear step bar mounting bolt and position the rear support bracket so it spans from the step bar mounting hole to the lower edge of the front spring hanger. Reinstall the step bar mounting bolt and hand-tighten. Mark the location on the spring hanger where the bracket mounting hole aligns, then move the bracket away and drill.
1. Install front cab mount bracket with factory bolt, flat washer, and hand-tighten. 2. Install rear body hold down bracket with hand-tightened fasteners. 3. Bolt side bar to front and rear brackets, check rocker panel clearance, and add plastic spacer washers if needed. 4. Install front support bracket to frame and step bar mounting bracket. 5. Drill and install rear bracket to leaf spring hanger back plate. 6. Drill and install rear support bracket to front spring hanger. 7. Check alignment and tighten all bolts. 8. Repeat for opposite side.
Position the front support bracket inside the step bar mounting bracket. The 90° end of the support bracket installs to the frame rail with the closed end facing towards the front of the vehicle. When positioned correctly, the support bracket mounting hole lines up with an existing slotted hole in the vehicle frame.
After bolting the side bar to the front and rear brackets, check for proper clearance between the step bar and rocker panel. If additional clearance is necessary, use plastic spacer washers between the flat washer on the bottom side of the cab bushing and the front step bar mounting brackets.
M12 bolts should be torqued to 28 ft.-lbs.
M10 bolts should be torqued to 16 ft.-lbs.
1/2" bolts should be torqued to 28 ft.-lbs.
Bolt size depends on model year: 1973–80 models use 1/2" × 5" bolts, while 1981–87 models use 1/2" × 3-1/2" bolts. Depending on the condition of your existing bolt, you may be able to reuse it.
Hand-tighten the following before final torque: (1) front cab mount bracket with flat washer, (2) rear body hold down bracket with 12mm flat washer, M12 lock washer, and 1/2" hex nut, and (3) rear step bar mounting bolt. Final tightening occurs after alignment check in step 7.
Check fasteners periodically and re-tighten as necessary. The manual does not specify an exact interval.
For stainless steel and aluminum, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs on the finish. Mild soap may be used to clean the product.
