These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

The manual does not specify removal of any factory components. However, you will need to access and work with the factory floor panel holes. The manual notes that excess factory foam may be present on the floor panel and may need to be scraped away to allow bolt plates to fit into holes and work correctly.
Start installation on the passenger side first, then repeat the same steps for the driver side. The manual states 'Start installation on the passenger side' and then 'Repeat Steps 2–10 for driver Sidebar installation.'
2007-2009 vehicles have an oval hole and a round hole on the bottom of the floor panel. Use 12-1.75mm x 45mm bolt plates, inserting them into the oval hole and turning 90 degrees so the plate crosses the opening. 2010-2011 vehicles have two round holes on the bottom of the floor panel (one centered, one offset toward the pinch weld). Use 10-1.5mm x 35mm button head bolt plates, ensuring the plate is supported across the hole. 2017 models use 10mm x 35mm narrow bolt plates.
Insert the end of the 'Z' bracket with the welded hex nut into the round hole in the bottom of the floor panel. Maneuver the bracket through the inside of the floor panel and line it up with the hole in the side of the floor panel. The bracket will mostly install inside the body panel and will not be visible. Secure it using an 8mm x 25mm hex bolt, 8mm lock washer, and 8mm flat washer through the mounting bracket and floor panel into the nut on the 'Z' bracket. Attach the remaining end of the 'Z' bracket to the tab on the bottom of the mounting bracket using an 8mm x 25mm hex bolt and 8mm lock washer.
Use 1 12mm square washer, 1 12mm lock washer, and 1 12mm hex nut to secure the front mounting bracket to the bolt plate. Do not tighten the hardware at this time; tighten all hardware after the sidebar is leveled and adjusted in Step 10.
Use 1 12mm square washer, 1 10mm flat washer, 1 10mm lock washer, and 1 10mm hex nut to secure the front mounting bracket to the 10mm bolt plate. Do not tighten the hardware at this time; tighten all hardware after the sidebar is leveled and adjusted in Step 10.
Use 4 8mm x 25mm hex bolts, 4 8mm lock washers, and 4 8mm flat washers to bolt the sidebar to the mounting brackets. Do not tighten this hardware until after the sidebar is leveled and adjusted.
For the bolt plate in the oval hole, use 1 12mm square washer, 1 12mm lock washer, and 1 12mm hex nut. For the bolt plate in the round hole, use 1 12mm flat washer, 1 12mm lock washer, and 1 12mm hex nut. Do not tighten hardware at this time.
For the bolt plate in the center of the floor panel, use 1 12mm square washer, 1 10mm flat washer, 1 10mm lock washer, and 1 10mm hex nut. For the bolt plate in the round hole, use 1 12mm flat washer, 1 12mm lock washer, and 1 12mm hex nut. Do not tighten hardware at this time.
Do not tighten any hardware during the initial installation steps. After the sidebar is leveled and adjusted properly, tighten all hardware at that time. The manual emphasizes: 'Do not move the Mounting Brackets too much when adjusting the Sidebar; this may cause Bolt Plates to disengage from the factory holes.'
Do not center the bolt plate in the hole. Instead, push the shorter end of the bolt plate to one side of the factory hole in order to fully engage. Use the passenger side rear bracket to determine the correct mounting hole to use.
Wax the product after installing to protect your investment. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives that could damage the finish. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used to clean the sidebar. For gloss black finishes, use mild soap only to clean the sidebar.
Do periodic inspections to the installation to make sure that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify the frequency of these inspections or provide a detailed checklist beyond verifying hardware tightness.
