ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-strength steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500 and Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

Yes. The manual provides different installation procedures for vehicles with and without factory threaded inserts. Vehicles 2015 and newer typically have factory inserts and use M8 hex bolts at the bottom mounting position. Vehicles 2015 and older without factory inserts require M10 hex bolts, flat washers and lock washers at the bottom mounting position instead. All other hardware remains the same.

Installation proceeds in this order: (1) Install driver-side front mounting bracket and hardware; (2) Install driver-side rear bracket and hardware; (3) Attach driver-side bar to brackets; (4) Adjust and level the driver-side bar; (5) Repeat steps 1–4 for the passenger side. The manual recommends tightening all brackets to the vehicle first, then tightening the side bar connections.
The manual instructs to snug hardware but not fully tighten during initial bracket and bar attachment (Steps 3A, 5). After adjusting and leveling the side bar (Step 6), tighten all brackets to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections. Final torque values are specified in the torque table on page 2.
Plastic retainers are slid over the threads of M8 and M12 bolts and bolt plates to hold them in place before the brackets are positioned. They are used in Steps 2 and 4 to secure the bolt plates in the vehicle's mounting holes until the brackets can be installed.
First, remove the tape plugs from the two mounting holes underneath the vehicle on the driver side. Insert an M8 bolt plate into the hole closest to the front and secure with a plastic retainer. Insert an M12 bolt and nut plate into the remaining hole and secure with a plastic retainer. Then place the bracket onto the vehicle and secure the left side with an M12 flat washer, lock washer and hex nut on the bolt plate, plus two M8 hex bolts, flat washers and lock washers on the bottom. Secure the right side with an M8 flat washer, lock washer and hex nut. Snug but do not fully tighten.
Insert an M12 bolt and nut plate into the slot in the rocker panel. Secure the M12 stud with a plastic retainer and place the rear bracket in position. Secure the top of the bracket with a flat washer, lock washer and nut. For 2015 and newer models with M8 factory inserts, secure the bottom with one M8 hex bolt, lock washer and flat washer. For 2015 and older models without M8 factory inserts, rotate the bolt plate to position the nut behind the lower mounting position and secure with an M10 hex bolt, flat washer and lock washer.
Place the side bar onto the brackets and align the mounting holes with the holes in the brackets on the vehicle. Attach the side bar using two M10 hex bolts, two M10 lock washers and two M10 flat washers. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten at this stage.
After attaching the side bar to the brackets, use a level to ensure the bar is properly aligned and positioned. The manual recommends this step before final tightening. Once leveled, tighten all brackets to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections.
Insert an M12 bolt and nut plate into the body panel at the front mounting location and secure with a plastic retainer. Insert an M8 bolt plate into the remaining top slot on the rocker panel and secure with a plastic retainer. Place the bracket onto the vehicle and secure the top front location with an M8 flat washer, lock washer and nut. Secure the top rear location with an M12 flat washer, lock washer and nut. For 2015 and newer models with M8 factory inserts, secure the bottom with one M8 hex bolt, lock washer and flat washer. For 2015 and older models without M8 factory inserts, rotate the bolt plate and secure with an M10 hex bolt, flat washer and lock washer.
M8 bolts should be torqued to 7 ft.-lbs. according to the torque specifications table on page 2 of the manual.
M12 bolts have two torque specifications depending on size: 16 ft.-lbs. for standard M12 bolts, and 28 ft.-lbs. for larger M12 bolts. The manual torque table on page 2 specifies these values.
Wax the product after installing to protect it. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any polish or wax containing abrasives that could damage the finish. For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Clean with mild automotive detergent only. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or similar products that may damage the finish.
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. The manual emphasizes this as important for maintaining the installation.
