ARIES 4" oval side bars are sleek, strong and custom-fitted to be a highly functional extension of your truck. ARIES 4" oval side bars are made with strong 4" elliptical tubing and are available in two different finish options to allow for full customization: polished stainless steel and black powder coat carbon steel. This set of side bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel, meaning high nickel content to be truly stainless. They easily resist rust and corrosion and feature a highly polished finish that is made to last. Something that sets the ARIES 4" oval side bar apart from all others is its blended end caps and OE-style bends. Rather than capping our side bars with a plastic cap, we offer a blended end cap for a smooth, finished appearance. We also equip the ends with a special 20-degree bend and original equipment styling to perfectly contour to your vehicle. ARIES 4" oval side b ars are fitted with raised step pads to provide a wide stepping surface. The polypropylene construction will not crack over time, and because it has a textured grip, the surface is highly resistant to slips and skids, even when wet. Installation of ARIES 4" oval side bars is quick and easy with custom-fitted mounting brackets and no drilling necessary. These nerf bars fit select model years of the Ram 1500, 1500 Classic, 2500 or 3500 and Dodge Ram 1500, Ram 2500 or Ram 3500 (see application info to verify fitment).

The ARIES 4" Polished Stainless Oval Side Bars, Select Dodge, Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 Step Nerf Bar Kit (Part #BBDRS225041-2) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The kit includes 1 driver/left side bar, 1 passenger/right side bar, 2 front mounting brackets, 2 middle mounting brackets, 2 rear mounting brackets, 12 M8 hex bolts with flat and lock washers, 18 M10 hex bolts with flat and lock washers, 6 M12 bolts with nut plates, flat washers, lock washers, hex nuts, plastic retainers, and 2 spacer plates.
Spacer plates are required only on 2009-2015 vehicles that do not have a support bracket at the front mounting point. If your vehicle has a support bracket at this location, spacer plates are not needed. The manual provides 2 spacer plates in the kit for vehicles that require them.
You will need a torque wrench, 13mm socket, 16mm socket, 18mm socket, utility knife, level, and brackets (which are included). The torque wrench is essential for properly securing all fasteners to specification.
Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce time required. Locate the three mounting locations underneath the vehicle on the driver side first, then repeat the process on the passenger side.
Install in this order: (1) Locate the three mounting points underneath the vehicle on the driver side. (2) Install the front mounting bracket using M12 bolt plate, plastic retainer, and fasteners. (3) Install the middle mounting bracket using the same method. (4) Install the rear mounting bracket. (5) Attach the side bar to all three brackets using M10 bolts. (6) Adjust and level the side bar. (7) Repeat all steps on the passenger side. Snug all hardware during installation but do not fully tighten until final adjustment.
First, use a utility knife to cut and remove the tape plug covering the third mounting point. Insert an M12 bolt plate into the opening and slide a plastic bolt retainer over the thread to hold it in place. Place the front bracket on the vehicle and secure the top with an M12 lock washer, flat washer and hex nut (snug but do not fully tighten). Secure the bottom holes with two M8 hex bolts, lock washers and flat washers. If your vehicle lacks M8 threaded inserts, align the M10 nut on the M12 bolt plate with a bracket hole and use an M10 hex bolt, lock washer and flat washer instead.
The process is identical for both. Insert an M12 bolt plate into the top mounting position and slide a plastic bolt retainer over the thread. Place the bracket on the vehicle and secure the top with an M12 flat washer, lock washer and hex nut. Secure the bottom with two M8 hex bolts, lock washers and flat washers (snug but do not fully tighten). If your vehicle lacks M8 threaded inserts, align the M10 nut on the M12 bolt plate with a bracket hole and use an M10 hex bolt, lock washer and flat washer instead.
Place the side bar onto the mounting brackets and align all mounting points. Ensure the rivet nuts on the bottom of the side bar line up with the brackets. Secure the side bar to the brackets using an M10 hex bolt, lock washer and flat washer at each mounting location. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten at this stage.
Adjust and level the side bar. It is recommended to tighten all brackets to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections. This ensures proper alignment and secure fastening.
Use the following torque values: M8 bolt = 7 ft.-lbs., M10 bolt = 16 ft.-lbs., M12 bolt = 28 ft.-lbs. These specifications apply unless otherwise noted in the installation instructions.
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. For stainless steel and aluminum components, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs on the finish. Mild soap may be used to clean the product.
Spacer plates are required only on 2009-2015 vehicles without a support bracket at the front mounting point. Two spacer plates are included in the kit.
