Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

The DH9008 is designed to adapt a B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch Model RVK3500 to a Blue Ox Gooseneck Hitch. It is not compatible with other hitch models.
The kit includes: 2 DH9008 adapter plates (101-8586), 5 bolts of 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" (201-0051), 1 bolt of 1/2"-13 x 4-1/2" (201-0147), 2 bolts of 1/2"-13 x 3/4" (201-0988), 1 hex nut 1/2"-13 (202-0005), 7 lock washers 1/2" (203-0012), and 1 Companion adapter shank (299-0641).
You will need a torque wrench, a 3/4" socket, and a 3/4" wrench.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to remove the hitch head per the manufacturer's instructions. The hitch must then be flipped over onto a solid surface to expose the underside for adapter plate installation.

Install the two adapter plates into the hitch channel. Loosely install the 1/2"-13 x 4-1/2" bolt towards the rear of the hitch to hold the plates in position temporarily.
Install four 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" bolts with lock washers through the hitch into the white plates. Install two 1/2"-13 x 3/4" bolts with lock washers through the hitch into the gray plates.
Torque all six bolts (the four 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" bolts and the two 1/2"-13 x 3/4" bolts) to 78 ft/lbs.
When installing the hitch shank into the gooseneck hitch, ensure the flats of the shank are parallel to the bed ribs.
Install the hitch onto the shank. Install the 1/2"-13 x 4-1/2" bolt through the hitch and shank with a lock washer and nut on the opposite side. Torque this bolt to 78 ft/lbs.
Torque the 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" top bolt to 60 ft/lbs.
After torquing the top bolt to 60 ft/lbs, install the locking bracket over the top bolt and secure it in place.

Reinstall the hitch head and use it per the manufacturer's instructions.
No. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, you must use a replacement bolt of the same grade. Most bolts in this kit are Grade 5. Do not use homemade or non-typical parts. Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor. Using substitute parts will void the manufacturer's warranty.
Failing to follow or altering the installation instructions will void the manufacturer's warranty. You must follow all steps exactly as written and use only the specified tools and genuine factory parts.
To remove the hitch from the truck, remove the top bolt and the 1/2"-13 x 4-1/2" bolt. Then lift the hitch off the shank.
