A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.

No. The BXH8001 is marked "DO NOT USE WITH Spring Bars" in the specifications table. Using spring bars with this hitch is not permitted.
No. The manual explicitly states "No drilling or trimming is required" for installation of the BXH8001 on 2021-2026 Kia Sorento. The hitch uses existing holes in the vehicle frame.
Required tools are: torque wrench, flat screwdriver, exhaust hanger removal pliers or 5/8" open end wrench, 5" socket extension, 6" socket extension, M12 x 1.25 tap, and 19MM socket. The manual also recommends using a jack or stand to support the exhaust during removal.

Yes. The spare tire must be lowered to allow clearance for receiver hitch installation. Open the lift gate, pull up on the tab to the bottom compartment, remove the roadside assistance tool insert, unscrew the cap in the bottom, and use the wrench provided with the roadside assistance tools to let down the spare tire. The spare tire is reinstalled after the hitch installation is complete.
The exhaust must be lowered but not fully removed. Support the exhaust using a jack or stand, then remove the four rubber isolators from the exhaust rods on the passenger side. If the vehicle has dual exhaust, repeat on the driver side. Lower the exhaust to allow clearance for hitch installation. The exhaust is raised back into place and the isolators are reinstalled after the hitch is installed.
Tighten all M12 bolts to 70 ft-lbs. This applies to the grade 10.9 M12-1.25MM bolts supplied with the hitch. Tighten the bottom bolt first, then the side bolts on each side of the vehicle.
The teeth of the conical washers must face towards the hitch. This applies to both the bottom bolt and the two side bolts on each side of the vehicle.
Yes. Remove the two white screws and three gray push pins from the plastic cover on the driver side, then remove and set aside the cover. The cover is reinstalled after the receiver hitch is installed.
Remove the three stickers covering the bolt holes on both sides of the vehicle. Also remove the rubber plug on the bottom of the frame on both sides to allow for receiver hitch clearance.
Before each towing trip, perform a visual inspection and check that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification. Inspect for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Check that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification on a regular basis. Complete a visual inspection before towing each time. It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip.
Use a replacement bolt of the same grade as the original. The BXH8001 uses grade 10.9 M12-1.25MM x 35MM hex head bolts. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts.
