The Blue Ox BX1134 Tow Bar Bracket is a sturdy, reliable, and easy-to-install solution for all your towing needs. Its black, powder-coated finish not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also provides an extra layer of protection against rust and corrosion. The product comes complete with all necessary mounting hardware, making installation convenient and hassle-free.

Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

The BlueOx Tow Bar Base Plate, Front Mount, RV Flat Towing for Select, JEEP WRANGLER, RBCN ANN (Part #FDRWBX1134) fits 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler models. The 2018 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
Yes, the BlueOx Tow Bar Base Plate, Front Mount, RV Flat Towing for Select, JEEP WRANGLER, RBCN ANN (Part #FDRWBX1134) is designed to fit the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler.
The BlueOx Tow Bar Base Plate, Front Mount, RV Flat Towing for Select, JEEP WRANGLER, RBCN ANN (Part #FDRWBX1134) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The BX1134 is designed for 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition, 2014-18 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X (including Hard Rock), 2007-18 Jeep Wrangler with ARB Stubby Bar, 2016-18 Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary, and 2007-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with ARB Stubby Bar. A 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon would fall within the 2014-18 Rubicon X range if it is a Rubicon X model. If your vehicle does not match one of these specific model years and editions, contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 to confirm fitment.
Yes, the BX1134 is designed for 2007-18 Jeep Wrangler with ARB Stubby Bar. However, installation requires trimming the underside of the bumper to clear the baseplate. Using a reciprocating saw, mark and trim the underside of the bumper on both sides as shown in the instructions to allow proper clearance.
No. The belly pan and metal bumper must be removed and reinstalled during baseplate installation. The belly pan is removed first to access the frame bolts, and the bumper is disconnected from the foglights and set aside. Both are reinstalled after the baseplate is mounted and trimmed.
Required tools are: large vise grip, torque wrench, drill, reciprocating saw, tape measure, 15MM socket, 18MM socket, 3/4" socket, and 15/16" socket. You will also need Loctite Red to apply to all bolt threads before tightening.
The kit includes: 2× 5/8"-11 nut wire, 4× 1/2"-13 whiz nut with 14" wire, 1× BX1134 baseplate, 2× attachment tab assembly (SF/SB right), 2× spacer plate, 4× 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" hex head bolt Grade 5, 2× #10-32 x 1/2" round head slot screw, 2× 5/8"-11 x 1-1/2" hex head bolt Grade 5, 2× #12-14 x 1" self-drilling screw, 2× #10-32 hex nut, 4× 1/2" lock washer, 2× 5/8" lock washer, 2× #10 lock washer, 1× electrical bracket, 2× class IV safety cables, 2× 1/2" quicklink, and 2× black cap plug receiver.
The BX8869 Tail Light Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle. The manual states you must drill a hole according to the tail light wiring kit instructions, but does not explicitly state whether the kit is required or optional. Contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 for clarification on whether the kit must be purchased separately.
Blue Ox recommends that baseplates be installed by Blue Ox dealers who are familiar with the products and have the equipment and knowledge necessary to do fit work. If professional installation is needed, Blue Ox dealers can be found at www.blueox.com or by contacting the Technical Service Department at (402) 385-3051.
The attachment tab height is 17" and the attachment tab width is 24".
Yes. After positioning the baseplate and installing the lower bolts, you must drill the remaining holes through the frame using a 17/32" drill bit. This is required on both sides of the vehicle to accommodate the 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" bolts and spacer plates.
Using a reciprocating saw, trim the belly pan by cutting 2-1/2" inward and downward 7-3/4" to allow proper clearance for the baseplate. This trimming is permanent and necessary for proper baseplate function.
Yes, if your vehicle has an ARB Stubby Bar. Mark the underside of the bumper as shown in the instructions and use a reciprocating saw to trim the underside to clear the baseplate. This must be done on both sides of the bumper.
Yes. Use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of frame to prevent rusting. This is important for protecting the frame from corrosion after drilling.
The manual provides a torque chart showing that 5/8" Grade 5 bolts should be torqued to 154 foot-pounds. However, the installation instructions state to use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten to the appropriate torque, but do not explicitly specify the torque value for the 5/8"-11 x 1-1/2" bolts in the installation steps. Refer to the torque chart on page 1 and apply the Grade 5 specification for 5/8" bolts (154 foot-pounds).
The manual provides a torque chart showing that 1/2" Grade 5 bolts should be torqued to 78 foot-pounds. The installation instructions state to use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten to the appropriate torque according to the torque chart provided.
Yes. The manual states: "Be sure to use a sufficient amount of Loctite Red on all bolt threads before tightening." This is required on all bolts and is emphasized multiple times in the instructions.
The baseplate kit includes an electrical bracket and wiring components: 2× 5/8"-11 nut wire and 4× 1/2"-13 whiz nut with 14" wire. The manual also references a tail light wiring kit (BX8869) which is recommended for this vehicle and requires drilling a hole according to the kit's instructions.
Yes. The manual states: "Be sure that ALL electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly before reinstalling the fascia." This is a required pre-completion check.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with the BX1134 baseplate. The cables are included in the kit (2× class IV safety cables and 2× 1/2" quicklink). They must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member and must be used in conjunction with (not as a replacement for) legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables should be secured to a solid piece of the frame. The manual shows two recommended options: Option 1 uses convenience link tabs on the baseplate, and Option 2 uses a quicklink. Be sure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Do this on both sides of the vehicle.
When installing the permanent baseplate safety cables, watch for: oil cooler and air conditioner lines, electrical wires and hoses, and missing parts or attaching points on the frame. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses or brake lines. If the baseplate is improperly installed and is against a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after installation.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for manufacturer's towing specifications.
Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for: cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. It is the owner's responsibility to perform these inspections.
Yes. The manual states: "Remove the attachment tabs when not in use (if applicable)." This helps protect the tabs and reduces the profile of the baseplate when the vehicle is not being towed.
The manual does not specify a retorque interval. However, it states that it is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for loose bolts before each towing trip and to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. Contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 for guidance on retorque intervals.
No. The manual states: "Many Blue Ox baseplates are designed to use existing holes and hardware to mount the baseplate to the towed vehicle. Even though bolts are there, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use the hardware supplied in the hardware kit and existing hardware as specified in the installation instructions." Use only the hardware provided in the kit.
If the baseplate is damaged in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
No. The manual states: "Use only genuine factory replacement parts on your baseplate. Do NOT substitute homemade or non-typical parts." If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (usually Grade 5). Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox dealer or distributor. Failing to follow this requirement will void the manufacturer's warranty.
Blue Ox offers a three-year limited warranty to the original retail purchaser. The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty is valid only if the customer warranty card is returned within 30 days of purchase and a copy of the original invoice accompanies any claim. The warranty does not cover incorrect or improper installation, improper use, modification, neglect, failure to maintain, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear, paint or rust. The warranty is non-transferable. Register your product at www.blueox.com/warranty/ to activate coverage.
The BX1134 fits 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary, 2014-18 Rubicon X (including Hard Rock), 2007-18 Wrangler with ARB Stubby Bar, 2016-18 75th Anniversary, and 2007-18 Wrangler Unlimited with ARB Stubby Bar. Confirm your exact model year and edition before purchasing.
You need: torque wrench, drill, reciprocating saw, large vise grip, tape measure, 15MM/18MM/3/4"/15/16" sockets, and Loctite Red. Professional installation by a Blue Ox dealer is recommended.
Yes. You must drill holes through the frame using a 17/32" drill bit on both sides. You must also trim the belly pan (2-1/2" inward, 7-3/4" downward) and, for ARB Stubby Bar vehicles, trim the bumper underside using a reciprocating saw.
Use the torque chart provided: 1/2" Grade 5 bolts = 78 ft-lbs; 5/8" Grade 5 bolts = 154 ft-lbs. Apply Loctite Red to all bolt threads before tightening. Use a torque wrench to tighten to specification.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended and included in the kit. They must be connected from the baseplate to the frame and used in conjunction with (not as replacement for) legally required safety cables. Do not route cables against hoses or wires.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight voids the warranty. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for manufacturer's towing specifications.
Before each towing trip, inspect for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and functioning. Retighten bolts with Loctite Red to specification if needed.
The manual states: "The dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable. While the baseplate was designed for easy installation, it may be necessary to tailor the baseplate slightly to compensate for vehicle manufacturer's tolerances." If the baseplate does not fit properly, contact Blue Ox Technical Service at (402) 385-3051 for guidance on minor adjustments or fit work.
The manual states: "Be sure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts." If cables are rubbing, reposition them to a different solid piece of the frame as described in the permanent baseplate safety cable instructions. Ensure cables are routed away from oil cooler lines, air conditioner lines, electrical wires, hoses, and brake lines. Improper routing could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts.
