Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. Yes. An 11/16" drill bit is required to drill out the front two holes on the tow hook bracket on both sides of the vehicle before the baseplate is installed. Additionally, a hole must be drilled according to the tail light wiring kit instructions. The manual also notes that some drilling and trimming is required overall.

Using a utility knife, you must remove marked areas on both sides of the vehicle to allow the baseplate to fit through the hole in the fascia, and remove marked areas on both sides of the fascia towards the inside near the license plate. Additionally, the tow hook bolt cover must be trimmed on both sides to allow room for the convenience link. For vehicles with ACC, the bolt cover on the driver side should not be reinstalled.

The removal sequence is: 1) Unplug the connector underneath the vehicle behind the fascia that disconnects everything with the bumper. 2) Remove two 15MM bolts behind the bumper on the frame by the headlights on both sides. 3) Remove two clips from each side above the tow hook. 4) For ACC models, remove two 10MM bolts from the ACC cover on the driver side, then remove three 11MM bolts holding the ACC and unplug it. 5) On the passenger side, pull the indicated plug through the backside of the fascia. 6) Remove four 18MM bolts around the tow hook on both sides and pull the bumper forward. 7) Remove four 18MM bolts from the bottom of the tow hooks on both sides. 8) Remove two 18MM bolts from each side of the bracket near the tow hook on both sides.
After drilling out the front two holes on the tow hook bracket with an 11/16" drill bit on both sides, slide the baseplate on and align it with the existing front tow hook holes. Bolt on first using two 5/8" x 1-3/4" bolts with lock washers.
Five bolts attach the baseplate to the frame on each side: two 5/8" x 1-3/4" bolts to the tow hook (with lock washers), three 5/8" x 1-3/4" bolts towards the outside of the frame (two with flat washers and nylon lock nuts on the inside, one with flat washer and nylon lock nut on the inside), and two 5/8" x 1-3/4" bolts towards the inside of the frame (with washers and nylon lock nuts on the inside). All bolts must use Loctite Red and be torqued to the appropriate specification.
The convenience link is used to attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the baseplate. Two convenience links are included in the kit, one for each side of the vehicle. The safety cables are attached to the convenience link and then secured to a solid piece of the vehicle frame.
Insert two 1/2" x 2" bolts with a flat washer and nylon lock nut on the back side to attach the convenience link. Do this on both sides of the vehicle.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. You should reference your vehicle owner's manual for the manufacturer's towing specifications.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The BX2675 kit includes Class IV safety cables (qty 2) and 1/2" quicklinks (qty 2) for this purpose. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame and must not be mounted against wires, hoses or brake lines. These cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed and are to be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
When using power drills, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length. When using a reciprocating saw, be aware of objects behind the cutting surface.
Be sure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly before reinstalling the fascia. Additionally, ensure that the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts and loose bolts before each towing trip.

Warranty coverage is not valid if the customer warranty card is not returned within 30 days of purchase. The warranty does not cover incorrect or improper installation, improper use, modification or neglect, failure to properly service and maintain, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear, paint or rust. The warranty is non-transferable.
No. You must use only genuine factory replacement parts on the baseplate. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (in most cases Grade 5). Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor. Failing to follow these requirements will void the manufacturer's warranty.
