Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

No. The BX1010 is designed specifically for 2002-03 Acura TL models without fog lights. The manual does not cover installation on vehicles with fog lights, so compatibility cannot be confirmed.
Motorhome mount tow bars are recommended for use with the BX1010. The RangeFinderII, Adventurer, and Ambassador tow bars cannot be used. The Acclaim tow bar may be used but will not fold and store on the front of the vehicle. Adapters except the BX8833 and BX88151 cannot be used with this baseplate.

The front fascia and metal bumper must be removed for baseplate installation. The fascia is held by ten pushpins on the top edge, one metric bolt on each corner (removed with 8MM socket), metric bolts on the bottom edge (removed with 10MM socket), and four pushpins on the bottom side. The metal bumper is held by two metric bolts on top and one on the bottom of each side (removed with 12MM socket).
Yes. Drilling is required. Using the baseplate as a template, you must mark and drill 13/32" holes into the bottom of the metal bumper and end plate, and 17/32" holes into the frame. The manual notes that dimensional variations between vehicles can be considerable, and minor adjustments may include filing holes slightly, bending electrical rods, and/or bending end plates to compensate for manufacturer tolerances.
The torque specification for 1/2-13 Grade 5 bolts is 78 foot-pounds.
The torque specification for 3/8-16 Grade 5 bolts is 33 foot-pounds.
1. Remove ten pushpins from the top edge of the front fascia. 2. Remove one metric bolt from each corner of the fascia using an 8MM socket. 3. Remove metric bolts from the bottom edge of the fascia using a 10MM socket on both sides. 4. Remove four pushpins from the bottom of the fascia and pull it forward to release. 5. Clamp the baseplate to the bottom of the metal bumper and use it as a template to mark and drill 13/32" holes in the bumper and end plate, and 17/32" holes in the frame. 6. Remove the metal bumper using a 12MM socket. 7. Insert 1/2" nut plates into the frame and hand-tighten 1/2-13 x 1 1/2" hex bolts with lock washers, then reinstall the metal bumper and tighten the bolts with a 3/4" socket. 8. Insert 3/8-16 x 1 1/4" hex bolts into the lower end plate holes and tighten with lock washers and hex nuts. 9. Insert 3/8" bolt plates with 18" wire into the bumper end and tighten with lock washers and hex nuts. 10. Reinstall the fascia. Apply LOCTITE Red to all bolts before tightening and torque according to the chart on page 1.

The factory bolts that hold the fascia and bumper should be set aside during removal and reinstalled after baseplate installation. The manual specifies that you remove and set aside ten pushpins from the fascia top edge, one metric bolt from each corner, metric bolts from the bottom edge, four pushpins from the bottom, and the metal bumper bolts, then reinstall them after the baseplate is mounted.
The BX8869 Bulb and Socket Wiring Kit is recommended for use with the 2002-03 Acura TL, but the manual does not state whether it is required or optional.
