Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. Remove the ten (10) push pins from the fascia cover—there are five (5) on each side. Set the cover aside. Then remove the push pin from the corner of the chrome strip and unsnap it from the vehicle on both sides.
Using a 10MM socket, remove the five (5) screws from each headlight. Disconnect all electrical lines from each headlight. Do this on both sides of the vehicle and set the headlights aside.
Using a 14MM socket, remove the four (4) bolts from the bumper (two on the top side and two on the underside). Using a 12MM socket, remove the bolt from the side of the bumper. Using a 10MM socket, remove the bolt from the top side of the bumper. Do this on both sides of the vehicle. Set the bumper aside—it will not be reinstalled.
Remove the plastic shielding from the vehicle by removing the four (4) push pins: one (1) on top, two (2) along the side, and one (1) at the bottom. Do this on both sides of the vehicle. The shielding will not be reinstalled.
Install the baseplate to the vehicle using the existing hardware. Apply Loctite Red to all bolt threads before tightening. Fully tighten all fasteners according to the torque chart provided (see torque specifications for bolt grades and sizes). The baseplate uses 2 existing 6MM bolts and 8 existing 10MM bolts from the vehicle.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Secure the cables to a solid piece of the frame as described in the General Information sheet. Be sure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts.
