Made from robust steel with a black powder coat finish, it offers superior strength and corrosion resistance. This custom-designed base plate guarantees a perfect fit for your specific vehicle and is easy to install with included mounting hardware. Whether you're towing your vehicle for a cross-country adventure or just around town, the Blue Ox BX2265 Tow Bar Bracket assures reliability and ease.

Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Yes, the BX2265 is designed for 2017 Honda Civic with manual transmission, including turbocharged models. The baseplate is specifically engineered for this model year and drivetrain configuration.
Yes, the BX2265 is compatible with 2019, 2020, and 2021 Honda Civic models with manual transmission. It supports both standard and turbocharged versions, as well as models equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control.
No. The BX2265 is designed exclusively for Honda Civic models with manual transmission. The manual does not list automatic transmission compatibility, so you should contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 to confirm fitment for your vehicle.
The BX2265 attachment tabs are 12.5 inches in height and 23 inches in width.
Yes. The fascia and headlights must be removed during installation and then reinstalled after the baseplate is mounted. The manual notes that handling cosmetic parts may require protective covers, rags, and specialty tools to prevent damage.
Yes, some drilling is required. The manual specifies drilling a hole according to the tail light wiring kit instructions (BX8869 recommended). Additionally, if you choose to install the optional breakaway bracket, you must drill a 1/4" hole through the fascia lip.
Yes. Using a reciprocating saw, you must trim the hook at the lower bumper bolt location flush with the frame on both sides of the vehicle. Additionally, you must trim the fascia around the convenience links and attachment tabs to fit properly.
Yes. The manual requires that you use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of the frame to prevent rusting.
Required tools include: torque wrench, large vise grip, flat screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, 5/16" nut driver, 7/16" wrench, 7/16" socket, 9/16" socket, 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 14MM socket, 15/16" wrench, 15/16" socket, T30 Torx driver, and a reciprocating saw. You will also need Loctite Red for all bolt threads.
The kit includes: 1 BX2265 baseplate, 2 support straps, 2 attachment tab assemblies, 1 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Grade 5 bolt, 2 #10-32 1/2" screws, 2 5/8"-11 x 1-1/4" Grade 5 bolts, 4 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" Grade 5 bolts, 2 #12-14 x 1" self-drilling screws, 2 #10-32 hex nuts, 1 1/4"-20 hex nylon nut, 4 3/8" flat washers, 2 5/8" flat washers, 4 3/8" lock washers, 2 5/8" lock washers, 2 #10 lock washers, 1 4-way bracket, 2 Class III safety cables, 2 3/8" quicklinks, and 2 13" nylon cable ties. The installation also uses 2 existing 6MM bolts and 8 existing 10MM bolts from the vehicle.
No. The BX8869 tail light wiring kit is recommended but not included. You must purchase it separately and drill a hole according to its instructions.
Always use the hardware supplied in the hardware kit and existing hardware as specified in the installation instructions. Do not assume existing bolts are adequate for baseplate mounting, even if they are present. The manual specifies which existing bolts to reuse: 2 existing 6MM bolts and 8 existing 10MM bolts from the vehicle.
Yes. You must use Loctite Red on all bolt threads before tightening. The manual emphasizes this requirement multiple times and states that all bolts must be tightened according to the torque chart provided.
For Grade 5 bolts: 1/4" = 10 ft-lbs, 5/16" = 19 ft-lbs, 3/8" = 33 ft-lbs, 7/16" = 54 ft-lbs, 1/2" = 78 ft-lbs, 5/8" = 154 ft-lbs, 3/4" = 257 ft-lbs. For metric Grade 8.8 bolts: 6MM = 6 ft-lbs, 8MM = 16 ft-lbs, 10MM = 31 ft-lbs, 12MM = 54 ft-lbs, 14MM = 89 ft-lbs, 16MM = 161 ft-lbs, 18MM = 222 ft-lbs.
Start each bolt individually and apply Loctite Red before tightening. Tighten in this specific order: 10MM bolts first, then 6MM bolts, then 5/8" bolts, and finally the 3/8" bolts attaching the support strap. Tighten each bolt to the appropriate torque specification before moving to the next.
No. When initially attaching the support straps to the baseplate (Step 15) and when starting the existing 10MM and 6MM hardware (Step 16), do not tighten fully. The 5/8" bolts should also be started but not fully tightened. Only fully tighten the bolts in the specified order after applying Loctite Red (Step 18).
The bumper will not be reinstalled. After removing the four bolts from the bumper (two on top, two on underside) using a 14MM socket, plus the side bolt (12MM socket) and top bolt (10MM socket) on both sides, set the bumper aside permanently.
The plastic shielding will not be reinstalled. Remove it by taking out the four push pins (one on top, two along the side, one at bottom) on both sides of the vehicle and set it aside permanently.
Yes, but only temporarily. Using a 10MM socket, remove the three bolts attaching the turbo air coolant tube to the passenger side (two in front, one in back) and the bolt attaching the clamp to the tube. After installing the baseplate, reinstall the turbo air coolant tube.
Remove the temperature sensor from the bumper and set it aside during installation. After the baseplate is installed, zip tie the temperature sensor to the baseplate.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended. The kit includes 2 Class III safety cables and 2 3/8" quicklinks. These cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame and must remain installed as long as the baseplate is on the vehicle. They are to be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables should be routed to a solid piece of the frame. The manual shows two recommended options: routing around a crossmember or frame of the towed vehicle. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines, as this could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. You must reference your vehicle owner's manual for the manufacturer's towing specifications and GVWR.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in and all accessories are functioning properly. This includes the headlights and any other electrical components that were disconnected during removal.
It is your responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Ensure all bolts are tightened to the recommended specifications and that Loctite Red has been applied to all bolts.
The manual does not specify a retorque interval. However, it states that it is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for loose bolts before each towing trip and to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Yes. The breakaway bracket is optional. To install it, drill a 1/4" hole through the fascia lip in the desired location and install the breakaway to the fascia using the 1/4" hardware provided in the kit.
Yes. The manual recommends removing the attachment tabs when not in use.

The BX2265 fits 2017 Honda Civic (manual, including Turbo) and 2019-21 Honda Civic (manual, including Adaptive Cruise Control & Turbo). It does not fit automatic transmission models.
Yes. You must drill a hole for the tail light wiring kit and trim the bumper hook flush with the frame using a reciprocating saw. Trimming of the fascia around the attachment tabs is also required. Paint all cut frame edges to prevent rust.
Required tools include: torque wrench, sockets (7/16", 9/16", 10MM, 12MM, 14MM, 15/16"), wrenches (7/16", 15/16"), screwdrivers (flat and Phillips), 5/16" nut driver, T30 Torx driver, large vise grip, reciprocating saw, and Loctite Red.
Yes. The fascia and headlights must be removed during installation and reinstalled afterward. The bumper and plastic shielding are also removed but not reinstalled.
Use the torque chart provided: Grade 5 bolts range from 10 ft-lbs (1/4") to 257 ft-lbs (3/4"); metric Grade 8.8 bolts range from 6 ft-lbs (6MM) to 222 ft-lbs (18MM). Apply Loctite Red to all bolt threads before tightening.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended and included in the kit. They must be connected from the baseplate to the vehicle frame and remain installed as long as the baseplate is on the vehicle. They supplement, not replace, legally required safety cables.
Verify all electrical connections are plugged in and functioning before reinstalling the fascia. Before each towing trip, inspect for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Ensure all bolts are tightened to specification.
The dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable. While the baseplate was designed for easy installation, it may be necessary to tailor the baseplate slightly to compensate for vehicle manufacturer's tolerances.
