Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Yes, the BX2337 baseplate is designed for 2013-2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe models. The installation instructions are specific to this vehicle. If the front of your vehicle looks different than shown in the manual, contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051 before proceeding.
The BX2337 attachment tab height is 16 inches and the width is 20 inches.
Blue Ox recommends that baseplates be installed by Blue Ox Dealers who are familiar with the products and have the equipment and knowledge necessary to do fit work. Blue Ox Dealers can be found at www.blueox.com or by contacting Customer Care at (402) 385-3051. However, the manual does not explicitly prohibit non-dealer installation.
Required tools include: Large Vise Grip, Utility Knife, Phillips Screwdriver, Torque Wrench, Drill, Reciprocating Saw, Tape Measure, Loctite Red, 8MM Socket, 10MM Socket, 12MM Socket, 14MM Socket, 7/16" Socket, 7/16" Wrench, 9/16" Socket, 9/16" Wrench, and 13/32" Drill Bit.
The fascia, passenger side headlight, and windshield washer fluid reservoir are removed and reinstalled. The metal bumper is removed and NOT reinstalled. All other removed items are reinstalled after baseplate installation.
Yes, drilling is required. Using a 13/32" drill bit, you must drill two remaining holes in the sideplate through the frame on both sides of the vehicle (step 11). This is a permanent modification.
Trimming is required in several locations: (1) Trim the face of the frame 3 inches over and 5 inches down on both sides for baseplate clearance (step 9). (2) Trim approximately 1/4 inch of the tab of the washer reservoir for bolt clearance (step 13). (3) The front slot of the washer reservoir may need to be elongated slightly for bolt clearance (step 13). (4) Trim the tab off the edge of the grille on both sides of the fascia for baseplate clearance (step 16). (5) Trim the tab off the upper styrofoam support on both sides of the fascia (step 16). (6) Mark and trim the fascia around the attachment tabs before reinstalling (step 17). Use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of the frame to prevent rusting.
Torque specifications for Grade 5 bolts are: 1/4" = 10 ft-lbs, 5/16" = 19 ft-lbs, 3/8" = 33 ft-lbs, 7/16" = 54 ft-lbs, 1/2" = 78 ft-lbs, 5/8" = 154 ft-lbs, 3/4" = 257 ft-lbs. The BX2337 uses Grade 5 bolts for the 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" fasteners (item 7).
Torque specifications for Grade 8.8 metric bolts are: 6MM = 6 ft-lbs, 8MM = 16 ft-lbs, 10MM = 31 ft-lbs, 12MM = 54 ft-lbs, 14MM = 89 ft-lbs, 16MM = 161 ft-lbs, 18MM = 222 ft-lbs. The BX2337 uses Grade 8.8 bolts for the 10MM-1.25 x 30MM fasteners (item 8).
Two 10MM-1.25 bolts with 10MM lock washers are installed into the existing holes at the rear of the baseplate on both sides of the vehicle (step 10). These are Grade 8.8 bolts (item 8 in parts list). According to the torque chart, 10MM Grade 8.8 bolts should be torqued to 31 ft-lbs.
3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" bolts with 3/8" lock washers are installed into the drilled holes, with 3/8" nut plates on the inside of the frame on both sides of the vehicle (step 11). These are Grade 5 bolts (item 7 in parts list). According to the torque chart, 3/8" Grade 5 bolts should be torqued to 33 ft-lbs.
Nut plates (part 61-5208: 3/8"-16 Nut Plate with 14" Wire) are installed on the inside of the frame to receive the 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" bolts that are drilled through the sideplate (step 11). Four nut plates are included in the kit, two for each side of the vehicle.
Yes, Loctite Red must be used on all bolts before tightening. This is a required step for all fasteners in the installation.
On the passenger side, the frame face must be bent over to allow access to the nut plates for installation (step 10). After the passenger side nut plates are installed, the frame face can be bent back to its original position (step 11).
Approximately 1/4 inch of the tab of the washer reservoir must be trimmed for clearance of the bolt. Reinstall the reservoir starting with the back bolt first, then the front bolt. The front slot may need to be elongated slightly for bolt clearance (step 13).
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate (step 14). The cables should be secured to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. The manual shows recommended installation to the frame. If additional options interfere with suggested mounting, secure the cables to a solid piece of the frame. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Install on both sides of the vehicle. Two Class III Safety Cables (part 226-0046) and two 3/8" Quicklinks (part 229-0359) are included.
No, breakaway bracket installation is optional (step 15). If you choose to install it, the bracket attaches to the existing bolt location just to the side of the intercooler with three flat washers behind as a spacer. The tab is bent up 90 degrees and attached to the bracket with a 1/4"-20 x 3/4" bolt and 1/4"-20 lock nut.
On the backside of the fascia, trim the tab off the edge of the grille for baseplate clearance on both sides (step 16). Also trim the tab off the upper styrofoam support on both sides of the fascia (step 16). Hold the fascia as close to its original position, mark and trim the fascia around the attachment tabs before reinstalling (step 17).
The BX2337 baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for manufacturer's towing specifications.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced and not reused. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury.
Be sure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly before reinstalling the fascia. This includes the headlight and washer reservoir electrical connections that were disconnected during installation.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. Register your product online at www.blueox.com to be alerted of product offerings, updates, upgrades, maintenance and safety bulletins, and recalls.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. The cables are to be used in conjunction with, and NOT as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines.
The kit includes: BX2337 Baseplate (1), Attachment Tab Assembly with Hole (2), BX2337 Breakaway Bracket (1), four 3/8"-16 Nut Plates with 14" Wire, four 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" Grade 5 bolts, four 10MM-1.25 x 30MM Grade 8.8 bolts, one 6MM-1.0 x 30MM Grade 8.8 bolt, one 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Grade 5 bolt, two #12-14 x 1" self-drilling screws, two #10-32 1/2" round slotted head screws, two #10-32 hex nuts, one 1/4"-20 hex nylon nut, five 1/4" flat washers, four 3/8" lock washers, two #10 lock washers, four 10MM flat washers, four 10MM lock washers, one Electrical Bracket, two Class III Safety Cables, two 3/8" Quicklinks, and two Black Cap Plug Receivers.
No. Use only genuine factory replacement parts on your baseplate. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (in most cases Grade 5). Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor. Failing to follow these instructions will void the manufacturer's warranty.
If the front of your vehicle looks different than shown in the manual, please contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051 before proceeding with installation.
