Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

No. The BX3335 is designed specifically for 2006-07 Saturn Vue with No Red Line Edition only. If your vehicle's front looks different, contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 before proceeding.
No. Due to the design of the removable tabs on the BX3335, the RangeFinder II, Adventurer, and Ambassador tow bars cannot be used with this baseplate. Motorhome mount tow bars are recommended instead.
The Acclaim tow bar may be used with the BX3335, but it will not fold and store on the front of the vehicle due to the removable tab design.
Most adapters cannot be used with the BX3335. The only exceptions are the BX8833 and BX88151 adapters, which are compatible.
Required tools are: 7MM socket, 10MM socket, 9/16" socket, large vise grips, reciprocating saw, drill, flat screwdriver, utility knife, torque wrench, tape measure, 13/32" drill bit, and Loctite RED.
The kit includes: 1 baseplate weldment (61-6780), 6 nut plates (3/8-16), 6 bolts (3/8-16 x 2", Grade 5), 6 lock washers (3/8"), 2 self-drilling screws (#12-14 x 1"), 2 slot round head screws (#10-32 x 1/2"), 2 lock washers (#10), 2 hex nuts (#10-32), 2 adapters (4-way connector), 2 attachment assemblies, 1 electrical bracket, 2 baseplate safety cables (36", Class III), 4 quicklinks (3/8"), and 2 cap plug receivers.

The front fascia and styrofoam bumper must be removed and reinstalled. Drilling is required using a 13/32" drill bit to create three holes on each side of the frame rail. Trimming of the bumper bracket and styrofoam bumper is required using a reciprocating saw. Some vehicle fascias may also need trimming. Minor adjustments such as filing holes, bending electrical rods, or bending end plates may be necessary to compensate for manufacturer tolerances.
1. Remove four metric bolts with hood bumpers from the top of the front fascia using a 7MM socket. 2. Remove five push pins from the edge of the wheel well just forward of the front tires (both sides). 3. Pull the wheel well cover back and remove one metric bolt from the fascia's corner using a 10MM socket (both sides). 4. Remove three push pins from the lower edge of the fascia just behind the lower air dam. 5. Locate three clips behind the fascia just forward of the front tire inside the wheel well, and release them by pulling toward the radiator with a flat screwdriver, starting with the lower clip. 6. Pull the fascia forward, unplug electrical connections if the vehicle has fog or running lights, and set aside carefully.
Using a reciprocating saw, make a horizontal cut just below the metal bumper on the bumper bracket into the outside edge of the frame on both sides. Make a vertical cut on the bumper bracket flush with the outside of the frame channel on both sides. Do not cut into the frame channel with either cut.
After baseplate installation, set the styrofoam as close to its original position as possible. Mark and cut the bottom of the styrofoam 1/2" deep around the attachment tab receiver area with a utility knife and remove this portion. This is done on both sides of the vehicle.
The torque specification for 3/8-16 Grade 5 bolts is 33 foot-pounds. All bolts must have Loctite RED applied before tightening.
The attachment tab height is 15" and the attachment tab width is 18".
A 13/32" drill bit is used to drill three holes into the side of the frame rail on each side of the vehicle.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with the BX3335 baseplate. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame and must remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed. The cables must be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length when using power drills.
All electrical connections must be plugged in properly and functioning before installing the fascia. If the vehicle has fog or running lights, ensure they are connected and working.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Use Loctite RED on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. No. Even though bolts may already be present on your vehicle, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use the hardware supplied in the hardware kit and existing hardware specified in the Baseplate Installation Instructions.
If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade. In most cases it will be Grade 5; refer to the parts list. Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor, or call the Customer Care Team at (402) 385-3051. Using a bolt of a different grade could void the warranty and compromise safety.
The BX8869 Bulb and Socket Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle. The manual shows a possible location for the kit but does not state whether it is required.
