Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Yes, the BX3524 is designed specifically for the 2011-12 Suzuki Kizashi Sport GTS. However, dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable, and minor adjustments may be necessary to compensate for manufacturer tolerances. These may include filing a hole slightly, bending electrical rods, and/or bending end plates.
No. Due to the design of the removable attachment tabs on the BX3524, the RangeFinder II, Acclaim and Ambassador tow bars cannot be used with this baseplate.
Most adapters can be used with the BX3524, except the BX8833 and BX88151, which are not compatible.
Required tools include: 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 13MM socket, 9/16" socket, Phillips screwdriver, torque wrench, tape measure, drill, large vise grip, and Loctite Red.
The fascia, front bumper and bellypan must be removed for installation. Additionally, the temperature sensor on the passenger side must be disconnected, and electrical connections to the front bumper must be unplugged.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051 for guidance on this step.
Yes, drilling is required. You will drill four holes through the bumper using a 13/32" drill bit: two side holes on each side and two holes at the bottom (one back and one front). When using power drills, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length.
Yes, trimming is required. You must use a utility knife to trim the holes in the fascia to allow for the attachment tabs. Excess trimming is also required to allow the fascia to fit over the hood latch for reinstallation.
A 13/32" drill bit is used to drill all four holes through the bumper for the baseplate mounting bolts.
The baseplate is secured using 3/8-16 x 1.5" hex bolts (Grade 5) with 3/8" lock washers and 1/4 x 1 x 1" nut plates. Eight bolts total are used: four for the side holes (two per side) and four for the bottom holes (two front, two back). All bolts must be tightened with Loctite Red.
The bumper is reinstalled using eight 8MM-1.25 x 30MM hex bolts with 8MM lock washers and 8MM flat washers. All bolts must be tightened with Loctite Red.
The manual references a torque chart on page 3 of the Baseplate Towing General Instructions, which is not included in this document. For Grade 5 3/8" bolts, the chart on page 1 shows 33 foot-pounds. However, contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051 to confirm the correct torque specification for these specific bolts with lock washers and nut plates.
The manual does not provide a specific torque value for the 8MM-1.25 x 30MM bolts. The torque chart on page 1 shows 16 foot-pounds for Grade 8.8 8MM bolts and 22 foot-pounds for Grade 10.9 8MM bolts, but the grade of the bumper bolts is not specified. Contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051 for the correct torque specification.
Two white electrical connections located below each headlight must be unplugged to disconnect the fascia. Additionally, electrical cords from the front bumper must be disconnected: one located in front of each headlight and one below the front bumper.
The manual instructs you to disconnect the temperature sensor on the passenger side during installation (Step 7) but does not specify whether it must be reconnected afterward. Contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (402) 385-3051 for guidance.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The BX3524 includes two 36" Class III baseplate safety cables. These cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame and must not be mounted against wires, hoses or brake lines. The cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed. They are to be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced and must not be used again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Be sure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning before installing the fascia.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts and loose bolts before each towing trip. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. Remove the attachment tabs when not in use.
The attachment tab height is 14" and the attachment tab width is 18".

The BX8848 Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle.

No. Use only genuine factory replacement parts on the baseplate. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (in most cases Grade 5). Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor.
