Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.

Yes, drilling is required. You must drill three holes using a 13/32" drill bit on each side of the vehicle to mount the baseplate to the frame. Additionally, a 1 1/4" hole saw is used to drill holes for accessing the lower portion of the frame to position nut plates on each side.
Yes, trimming of the fascia is required. Some vehicle fascias may need trimming of the opening in the grille for the attachment tabs using a hack saw knife. The dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable, so minor adjustments may include filing holes, bending electrical rods or bending end plates to compensate for manufacturer tolerances.
Yes. Using a reciprocating saw, you must cut into the edge of the frame well and follow it down to the bottom and out. It is very important to follow the frame well because it offsets down at the top. This must be done on both sides of the vehicle to remove the frame well webbing.
Required tools are: 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 9/16" socket, vise grips, reciprocating saw, Phillips screw driver, utility knife, 1 1/4" hole saw, 13/32" drill bit, and Loctite Red. A hack saw knife is also needed for trimming the fascia.

The 3/8-16 x 1 1/2" hex bolts are Grade 5 and should be tightened to 33 foot-pounds according to the bolt torque specifications chart on page 1 of the manual. Loctite Red must be applied to all bolts before tightening.

You must disconnect wire connections from the right and left side of the bumper, as well as the sensors located underneath the bumper during removal. These connections must be plugged back in before reinstalling the fascia. The manual states: "Be sure that ALL electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning BEFORE installing the fascia."
The permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. Their principal function is to prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose in the event the connection between the frame of the towed vehicle and the baseplate fails or becomes disconnected. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. However, they are to be used in conjunction with, and NOT a replacement for legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.

Always use hardware supplied in the hardware kit and existing hardware specified in the Baseplate Installation Instructions. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (in most cases Grade 5). Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts.
Confirm the towability and pre-towing procedures for your vehicle with the owner's manual or contact the vehicle's manufacturer for specific towing procedures. It is the owner's responsibility to hook up all towing equipment per manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.
