A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Ford F250 Super Duty and F350 Super Duty (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Part number 31014 is designed for 1999–2003 Ford Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks only. Do not use on other vehicles or model years. Verify your truck's year and model before purchasing.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 5,000 lbs trailer weight and 500 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. When used as a straight-line pull (recovery), the maximum line pull is 9,000 lbs. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
The hitch weight is 90 lbs.
The kit includes two HHTFS 3/8-16 UNC 1-1/4 Grade 5 zinc-plated bolts (part 10-10555), one 0.250" driver-side mounting plate (CM-31014-DSMP), and one 0.250" passenger-side mounting plate (CM-31014-PSMP). The hitch receiver tube itself is not separately listed but is the main assembly component.
Yes. The blocker beam (the small sub-bumper behind the air dam) must be removed before installation. There are three fasteners at each end of the beam. The air dam itself stays in place and requires no cutting.
No. Do not remove the leaf spring bolts themselves. You must remove only the nuts from the bolts that go through the front of the leaf springs. The bolts must remain in place. Removing the bolts could allow the front of the vehicle to drop down suddenly.
Yes. You must drill two 5/16" holes into the blocker beam—one on each side of the receiver tube. These holes align with tabs on the bottom of the receiver tube and are used to secure the self-threading 3/8" bolts. Pre-drilling is required before the self-threading bolts are installed.
All 3/8" fasteners must be torqued to 45 ft-lb.
Professional installation takes approximately 40 minutes. DIY (novice) installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
You must not exceed the front axle Gross Weight Rating (GAWR). Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or the specification plate on the driver's door frame. Measure gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale. Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and suspension, which could result in accident, property damage, and personal injury.
Yes, the hitch can be used for vehicle recovery and winching. However, you must use OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount for attachment of a tow strap or winch cable. Never use a ball mount or ball as an anchor point, as this could result in severe personal injury or death. Observe all winch manufacturer's recommendations, cautions, and warnings.
For maximum line pull rating, the winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees up or down from horizontal, and must not exceed 45 degrees left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and/or the front-mounted receiver.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye, not to the winch mount. Attaching the return cable to the winch mount may overload the winch mount and/or the front-mounted receiver.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is especially important given the critical nature of the leaf spring fasteners and the drilling required during installation.
No. The air dam stays in place with no cutting required. Only the blocker beam (the small sub-bumper behind the air dam) is removed.
Yes. The hitch extends the front of the vehicle, which may reduce approach angle. Use caution when parking and maneuvering. Additionally, rear wheel traction may be reduced, which could affect handling. Reduce speed and drive with caution.
After installation, verify that the hitch does not obstruct vehicle lights, does not obstruct the driver's view, and allows free air flow into the grille opening. If the license plate is obstructed, reposition it.
The Curt 31014 is designed for 1999–2003 Ford Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks only. Verify your truck's year and model before purchasing.
The hitch supports 5,000 lbs trailer weight and 500 lbs tongue weight for towing, or 9,000 lbs maximum line pull for recovery. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
All 3/8" fasteners must be torqued to 45 ft-lb.
Yes, but only with OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount. Never use a ball mount as an anchor point. Observe all winch manufacturer's recommendations and maintain cable angles within 15° vertical and 45° horizontal.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound.
