Yes, the Curt 18101 is designed to mount on your existing ATV rear rack. The carrier uses mounting plates that align with the holes in your existing rack. However, the manual notes that the rack extension of the ATV may have to be removed before the cargo carrier can be installed, depending on your ATV model.
The kit includes: 1 cargo carrier, 2 mounting plates (3"), 2 mounting plates (11.75"), 2 mounting plates (5.4"), 12 M8×50 bolts, 12 M8 flat washers, 8 mounting brackets, 8 M6×75 bolts, 16 M6 flat washers, 8 M6 lock nuts, and 2 square tube plugs.
The manual states that the rack extension of the ATV may have to be removed before the cargo carrier can be installed. Whether removal is necessary depends on your specific ATV model and the fit of the carrier. Check the fit before beginning installation; if the carrier does not center properly on the rear rack, remove the extension.
Assembly 1 uses mounting plates that align with existing holes in the cargo carrier and ATV rack. 1. Unpack and identify all parts. 2. Position the cargo carrier centered on the rear rack of the ATV. 3. Position two sets of mounting plates under the ATV rack, aligning the mounting plate holes with the cargo carrier holes. 4. Insert M8×50 bolts through washers, the rear flat rack, and into the mounting plates. Leave bolts loose until all are installed. 5. Align the cargo carrier evenly and tighten all bolts. 6. Insert the square tube plugs into square tube openings.
1. Position mounting brackets so bolts will be on both sides of a frame rail of the cargo carrier and ATV rack. 2. Using mounting brackets, M6×75 bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts, secure the rear flat rack to the ATV rack. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, spacing the mounting brackets evenly over the surface of the cargo carrier. 4. Insert the square tube plugs into square tube openings.
The manual states: 'NEVER EXCEED YOUR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TOWING CAPACITY.' This means the total weight of the cargo carrier and any cargo loaded on it must not exceed the maximum towing or carrying capacity specified by your ATV manufacturer. Exceeding this limit can damage your ATV and create a safety hazard.
