This accessory for the Rebellion XD ball mount features standard pintle hole spacing to accept any CURT plate-mount pintle hitch. The holes are spaced 3-5/16-inch wide by 1-3/4-inch high. This pintle mount attachment also features an integrated rubber dampener to compliment the Rebellion XD ball mount's resistance to jerking, jarring, vibrations and noise. The CURT Rebellion XD adjustable cushion hitch ball mount upgrades your towing system with a smoother ride, greater control and enhanced longevity, all while providing exceptional towing power with virtually no need for maintenance. It is unlike any other ball mount because it operates using ShockDrop technology. At the core of this heavy-duty ball hitch is a cushion isolator that resists jerking, jarring, bumps, vibrations, chucking and rattling noise at the coupling point. Unlike a cushion hitch or torsion hitch that uses airbags or bearings, ShockDrop offers extended resistance to wear without the need for maintenance. The Rebellion™ XD (CURT# 45950) is a pintle mount accessory that attaches to a trailer hitch receiver to enable towing of trailers with pintle hooks. It features an adjustable shank with multiple height positions to match your trailer tongue height, and includes a built-in anti-rattle feature in the channel on the backside to keep your towing system quiet.
No. The adjustable shank (#1), hitch pin, and clip are sold separately. The Rebellion™ XD kit (45950) includes only the pintle mount, two pins, two clips, four hex bolts, and four lock washers. You must purchase the shank separately and install it into your trailer hitch receiver before attaching the pintle mount.
The Rebellion™ XD has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 15,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 1,500 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The mount system ratings represent only the product's capability and do not reflect the ratings of your vehicle's towing system. Always verify the lowest-rated component in your entire towing system and stay within that limit.
You will need a 3/4" socket and a torque wrench. The torque wrench is essential because all fasteners must be torqued to 75 lb-ft before towing. The manual also specifies using a 1/2" socket when torquing the pintle hook hardware to 75 lb-ft.
Level your trailer and measure from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground. Find the hole on the adjustable shank (#1) that is closest to that measurement. The pintle mount (#2) will be centered on that hole. This ensures your trailer will tow level and safely.
For most mounting positions: angle the pintle mount slightly upwards and press it toward the shank. Insert the top tongue hole pin (#3) first. Then apply downward force to the mount and slide the second pin into the bottom hole. For the highest mounting position only: install the bottom pin first with the mount angled downward, then apply upward force to install the second pin. Secure both pins with the included clips (#4).
All fasteners must be torqued to 75 lb-ft. Use a torque wrench and 1/2" socket to torque the four hex bolts (#5) that secure the pintle hook. This must be done before towing. Ensure all fasteners remain tight and all structural components are sound prior to each towing trip.
No. Never hook up trailer safety chains to the mount system. Safety chains must operate freely around the mount system and must not become entangled with it. This is a critical safety requirement.
If replacement pins are needed, they must be replaced with original factory mount pins only (CURT# 45959). The pins included with the Rebellion™ XD are specifically engineered for this system, and using non-original pins may compromise safety and performance.
Use only mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or similar products, as these may damage the finish. Before each towing trip, ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound.
