The CURT SecureLatch pintle mount offers easy, precise vertical adjustment of your pintle hitch. It features a unique slotted design that allows the double bolts to slide up and down as needed to level your trailer. Instead of having to disassemble and reassemble the entire hitch, simply loosen the bolts with a single wrench, enough to allow the pintle hitch to slide freely. Then, retorque the bolts -- the bolts provide 48,000 pounds of clamp pressure for highly secure towing of heavy-duty loads. This SecureLatch pintle plate mount fits any industry-standard 2-1/2-inch receiver and has a 10-5/8-inch x 5-inch plate for a wide range of adjustment (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). The mount is rated for 20,000 pounds gross trailer weight, and it can accept a SecureLatch pintle hook or ball and pintle combination (sold separately). This pintle hitch mount is constructed from high-strength fabricated steel, and it comes with a teridium powder coat finish for lasting corrosion resistance.

The CURT 48016 is a pintle mount designed to attach to a receiver hitch and accept a pintle hook or similar towing attachment. It allows you to secure a trailer or equipment for towing. The mount is rated for a gross trailer weight (GTW) of 20,000 lbs and is secured to the receiver hitch using a 5/8" hitch pin or lock (not included).
The CURT 48016 mounts into a receiver hitch on your vehicle. The manual does not specify which receiver hitch sizes (2-inch, 2.5-inch, etc.) or vehicle models are compatible. Contact CURT Manufacturing at 877-287-8634 or check the product listing for your specific vehicle to confirm fitment.
The CURT 48016 is rated for a gross trailer weight (GTW) of 20,000 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, and you must use the lowest rated capacity among your vehicle, the mount, and all other towing components. For off-road applications, reduce this capacity by 25%.
The CURT 48016 includes: 1 pintle mount, 4 carriage bolts (1/2" x 2"), 2 spacer plates, and 4 top lock nuts (1/2"). The 5/8" hitch pin or lock required to secure the shank to the receiver hitch is not included and must be purchased separately.
You will need a torque wrench and a 3/4" socket. These are the only tools specified in the manual for installation.
1. Insert the pintle mount shank into the receiver hitch. The shank can be used in either the rise or drop position. 2. Secure your attachment of choice (such as a pintle hook) using the hardware provided with the pintle mount, but do not fully tighten at this stage. 3. Adjust the attachment to the required towing height. 4. Tighten all bolts to 90 ft-lbs using a torque wrench. 5. Secure the shank to the receiver hitch with a 5/8" hitch pin or lock (not included).
All 1/2" bolts on the CURT 48016 must be tightened to 90 ft-lbs. This applies to the carriage bolts and top lock nuts included with the mount.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity or the product's rated capacity (20,000 lbs GTW). Maintain adequate vertical down (tongue) load—generally 10%—but do not exceed the specified rated capacities. Keep safety chains in place and in working order at all times. Never operate the product without safety chains attached to the vehicle. For off-road applications, reduce the 20,000 lbs capacity by 25%. Check for damaged parts before each use and never operate with a damaged part.
