The CURT 45962 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 10,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 1,000 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, as the mount system ratings represent only the product capability, not the overall towing system capacity.
The CURT 45962 is designed to insert into a trailer hitch receiver tube. The manual does not specify receiver tube sizes, vehicle makes/models, or fitment restrictions. Verify compatibility with your specific vehicle and hitch receiver before purchase.
You need a tape measure and a level. The tape measure is used to measure from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground to determine the correct ball height. A level is needed to level the trailer before taking this measurement.
Level your trailer on level ground. Measure from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground. Find the hole on the adjustable shank (#1) that matches this measurement. The trailer ball platform (#4) will be centered on that hole. Use this measurement to set the ball height in Step 3.
Insert the adjustable shank (#1) into the trailer hitch receiver tube. Secure it with a hitch pin and clip. Then determine the correct ball height using Step 2, adjust the dual ball mount to the front position for towing (Step 4), and set the ball height using the adjustment pins and clips.
After determining the required ball height (Step 2), remove the two adjustment pins and clips. Align them with the proper hole locations on the adjustable shank. Reinstall the pins and clips to set the new height.
To store: Remove the dual ball pin and clip and rotate the dual ball 90 degrees to store position. Remove the two adjustment pins and clips, guide the dual ball mount down the adjustment groove, and rotate it to the backside of the adjustable shank. Reinstall the pins to secure it. To tow: Reverse this process, rotating the dual ball mount to the front side and the dual ball to the tow position.
No. Use only the hitch pin supplied by CURT Manufacturing. Using any other pin could be a serious safety hazard and will void the warranty.
No. Never hook up trailer safety chains to the mount system. Ensure the safety chains operate freely around the mount system and do not become entangled.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The CURT 45962 ratings (10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW) represent only the product capability. You must also respect the lowest rated component in your entire towing system, including your vehicle, hitch receiver, and trailer.
Use mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or similar products that may damage the finish.
The CURT 45962 fits standard trailer hitch receiver tubes. Verify your vehicle has a compatible hitch receiver and check with CURT or your retailer for specific vehicle compatibility.
The manual lists the difficulty level as 'Easy' and requires only a tape measure and level. Installation time is not specified in the manual.
