The Phantom Bracket is a mounting component designed for flat towing applications. It is installed in the floorboard of a towed vehicle and serves as a back stop for the RVibrake system. The bracket assembly includes a U mounting bracket that fastens to the vehicle floor and a Phantom Bracket that slides into it.
Yes, the Phantom Bracket can be installed on Jeep JK vehicles, but with a specific requirement: it must be installed on top of the hump under the seat with the RVibrake at an angle, because the floorpan is too tight for standard installation.
No. If your towed vehicle has a Weathertech style molded floor mat, it must be removed when towing in order to use the Phantom Bracket. The molded mat design is not compatible with the bracket installation.

The kit includes: 1 Phantom bracket, 1 U mounting bracket, 1 carpet retaining plate, and 5 self-tapping screws. The self-tapping screws are used to secure the U mounting bracket to the vehicle floor.
Before securing the U mounting bracket with self-tapping screws, always ensure there are no components, wiring, or structural elements located beneath the floorboards or under the carpet. Drilling without proper inspection may result in serious damage to hidden parts, leading to costly repairs or safety hazards. Also review your vehicle's owner's manual for all flat towing steps and limitations.
Find the edge of the floor mat under the driver's seat in the floorboard of your towed vehicle. Line up the U mounting bracket with the center of the brake pedal, staying on the edge of the floor mat. Keep the bracket in this location while you remove the floor mat and secure it with self-tapping screws.
After the U mounting bracket is secured to the floor with self-tapping screws, slide the Phantom Bracket all the way back into the U mounting bracket. The floor mat should then be able to lie all the way down with the Phantom Bracket in place.
After installation, follow the setup instructions in the RVibrake user guide using the Phantom Bracket as your back stop. Refer to that guide for the next steps in configuring the braking system.
The carpet retaining plate is recommended for vehicles with thick carpet. It should be placed under the U mounting bracket to allow for easier installation of the Phantom Bracket. It is included in the kit but is optional depending on your vehicle's carpet thickness.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. Before drilling, inspect the floorboard to ensure there are no components, wiring, or structural elements beneath the surface, as drilling without proper inspection may result in serious damage and safety hazards.
Follow your vehicle's owner's manual for all flat towing steps and limitations. Ensure that your towing vehicle is of adequate size to properly control your towed vehicle, as vehicle performance (braking, handling, acceleration, turning radius) can be drastically affected by the towed vehicle. Allow for additional time and space for stopping, changing lanes, passing and turning. Never back up while flat towing a vehicle, as damage to both vehicles and towing system may occur.
