Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Suzuki Grand Vitara and SX4. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

Yes, the CURT 58950 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Suzuki Grand Vitara, SX4 (Part #BKDK58950) is designed to fit the 2006-2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara.
The CURT 58950 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Suzuki Grand Vitara, SX4 (Part #BKDK58950) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58950 is designed specifically for the Suzuki Grand Vitara. The harness connects to the vehicle's factory taillight connectors and mounts to the frame near the radiator.
The kit includes: (1) wiring harness with 4-Flat connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat extension, (20) 15" cable ties, (1) 4-Flat bracket, and (3) #8 self-tapping ground screws.
The 58950 is an RV harness that connects to brake and tail lights. To tow a trailer, you must plug in the 4-Flat harness part number 58919 into the connection point labeled "FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: TAILLIGHT REQUIRED." The 58950 can remain on the vehicle permanently, and the 58919 is plugged in only when towing a trailer.
You will need: a flat screwdriver (to remove push pins), a 10mm socket (to remove taillight bolts), a drill with a 3/32" drill bit, a fish tape (to route the 4-Flat harness through the wheel well), and possibly a utility knife (to make a slit in the grommet if needed). The manual does not specify whether a power drill or hand drill is required.
Open the rear tailgate and remove the cargo cover, floor cover, and threshold plate (by removing two push pins with a flat screwdriver). Remove the tire jack from the driver's side compartment. Remove the driver's side taillight using a 10mm socket. You may also need to remove plastic clips on the wheel well cover and plastic shield to route the harness.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 3/32" holes: one near the RV harness ends to attach the ground screw (Step 5), and two more 3/32" holes in the frame near the radiator to attach the 4-Flat bracket (Step 15). Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
The 4-Flat harness uses the following color code: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
Gently pull the plastic side panel away from the vehicle body to expose the taillight connectors. Position the RV harness with connectors containing yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat this process on the passenger side with the connectors containing green wires.
Starting at the left side of the rear driver's side wheel well, use a fish tape to route up and over to the right side (you may need to remove clips on the wheel well cover). Secure the 4-Flat connector to the fish tape and pull through. Route the 4-Flat wire above the plastic shield underneath the vehicle and secure with cable ties. Continue routing towards the front along the inside of the plastic shield until you reach the driver's side wheel well. From the front of the wheel well, use a fish tape again to route up and over to the bottom right of the wheel well. Route over the plastic splash shield to the frame near the radiator.
Route the 4-Flat wire to the frame located near the radiator underneath the vehicle. Use the bracket as a template to mark two hole locations. Drill two 3/32" holes and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 self-tapping screws. Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Suzuki Grand Vitara. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp. The harness controls tail lights, left turn and brake signal, and right turn and brake signal.
Route the 4-Flat connector through the opening behind the taillight and push the grommet back into the hole around the 4-Flat wire. If it is necessary to make a slit in the grommet, apply silicone around the area to seal it.
Make sure to avoid areas that contain moving parts or could cut, pinch or burn the wires when routing the 4-Flat harness towards the front of the vehicle. Avoid routing the harness near fuel lines as it may cause fuel to ignite. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose a clean metal surface and drill a 3/32" hole. Attach the ring terminal on the white wire using one of the #8 self-tapping ground screws provided.
Yes. Using a 10mm socket, remove the bolts on the driver's side taillight and remove the taillight. After routing the 4-Flat connector through the opening behind the taillight, reinstall the taillight at the end of the installation.
The Curt 58950 RV TOW Harness is designed for the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Yes. You must drill three 3/32" holes: one for the ground screw and two for the 4-Flat bracket mounting. A drill, 3/32" drill bit, and fish tape are required.
Remove the cargo cover, floor cover, threshold plate, tire jack, and driver's side taillight. You may also need to remove plastic clips on the wheel well cover and shield.
White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
The 58950 is for RV use. To tow a trailer, plug the separate 4-Flat harness part number 58919 into the trailer tow connection point on the 58950.
Plug the 4-Flat extension into the RV harness and motorhome, then test that tail lights, left turn/brake signal, and right turn/brake signal work on the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
