A CURT RV hitch is a trailer hitch designed to mount on a recreational vehicle to tow along a few toys, add extra cargo space or to allow a vehicle to be flat-towed behind the RV. These hitches are manufactured using CURT's quality processes of robotic welding, thorough cleaning and precise finishing. Both our RV trailer hitches and RV bumper hitches are coated with a liquid A-coat and high-gloss black powder coat finish to protect against scratches, rust and UV damage, and both offer a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount or other towing accessories. CURT RV hitches are designed to fit a variety of RV styles. With two types to choose from -- an adjustable 3-piece frame-mounted style or a bumper-mounted style -- these hitches mount easily onto the frame using the included hardware. This class 3 RV hitch features a gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. It is able to fit a frame up to 72" wide. It is excellent for towing a cargo carrier behind your RV, increasing your overall cargo space, or an average-size trailer, such as a utility trailer, boat trailer or recreational vehicle hauler for ATVs, personal watercraft or dirt bikes. This RV trailer hitch is also compatible with a tow dolly or tow bar for dinghy towing a small vehicle (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). CURT RV hitches are not just another accessory for your motorhome; they are a dependable extension to help you achieve that ultimate RV experience every time you hit the road.

The CURT 13703 is an adjustable receiver hitch designed for RV towing. It mounts to vehicle frame rails and provides a receiver tube for towing trailers. The hitch is adjustable, allowing the bracket tube mount to be positioned toward the front or rear to gain frame clearance or adjustability. It complies with SAE J684 and New York V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 safety specifications.
The CURT 13703 fits vehicles with C-channel, box, or I-beam frames. The frame width must be between 22" and 72". The installation instructions show specific mounting configurations for each frame type.
The CURT 13703 is designed for vehicles with frame widths between 22" and 72". You should measure your vehicle's frame width before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
You will need: a drill with a 17/32" drill bit, a torque wrench, a 3/4" socket, a ratchet, and a hack saw (optional, only if you choose to trim the main body tube flush). A clamp is also needed to hold the hitch in position during drilling.
The kit includes: 16 × 1/2"-13 UNC Grade 8 carriage bolts (part 10-10288), 32 × 0.250" × 1.50" × 2.00" square hole spacers (part CM-SP1), 16 × 1/2"-13 UNC Grade 8 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062), and 2 × 1/2" fishwire. All fasteners are Grade 8 zinc-plated.
The manual does not mention battery disconnection. This is a mechanical hitch installation with no electrical components, so battery disconnection is not required.
Drilling is required for bolt-on installation. However, the manual notes that for weld-on applications, no drilling is required. If you are performing a weld-on installation, consult the manufacturer or a professional welder for guidance, as the manual does not provide weld-on instructions.
Use a 17/32" drill bit for all mounting holes. This applies to both the frame rail holes and the cross tube holes in the bracket tubes.
You must drill a minimum of 4 horizontal holes per side (8 total) into the frame rails. If frame clearance permits, you can also drill 2 additional vertical holes per side (4 total) for added clamping strength. For the bracket tubes, drill 2 holes per side (4 total) into the cross tube using the bracket tubes as a template. All holes are 17/32" diameter.
Yes. The main body tube may be trimmed flush with the outside of the bracket tube mount. If you trim it, you must coat the bare metal with paint to prevent corrosion. Trimming is optional and done after installation is complete.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This applies to all carriage bolts and flange nuts used in the installation.
1. Slide the left and right frame brackets onto the hitch. 2. Position and clamp the hitch to the frame rails so the receiver tube is centered on the vehicle, with the receiver tube face flush with the rear bumper. 3. Using the brackets as a template, drill 4 horizontal holes per side into the frame rails (and optionally 2 vertical holes per side if clearance permits). 4. Fasten the frame brackets to the frame rails using the mounting hardware. 5. Center the hitch and clamp at both ends, then drill 2 holes per side into the cross tube using the bracket tubes as a template. 6. Fishwire a 1/2"-13 carriage bolt and CM-SP1 spacer into each hole in the main body, securing with a 1/2" flange nut. 7. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
Position the hitch so the receiver tube is centered on the vehicle. The face of the receiver tube should be flush with the outward surface of the rear bumper to maximize clearance for accessories. The bracket tube mount can be positioned toward the front or rear to gain frame clearance or adjustability as needed.
Fishwire is a flexible wire used to route fasteners through holes in the hitch body. In step 6, you fishwire a 1/2"-13 carriage bolt and CM-SP1 spacer into each hole in the main body tube, then secure it with a 1/2" flange nut. The kit includes 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire for this purpose.
The manual lists a gross load capacity when used as a weight-carrying hitch, but the specific trailer weight and tongue weight values are not filled in on the document provided. Contact CURT Manufacturing technical support at 1-877-287-8634 or visit www.curtmfg.com for the exact capacity specifications for your vehicle.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be applied to this hitch only if they are supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Always use the appropriate support equipment for non-trailer applications.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The CURT 13703 is designed to work within your vehicle's limits, not to exceed them. Check your vehicle's owner manual or manufacturer specifications for the maximum towing capacity.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a retorque interval, but regular inspection is recommended to maintain safe operation.
