The Curt 16055 is a bent plate gooseneck hitch designed for rail mount installation on truck beds. It is used as a weight-carrying hitch for towing trailers. The hitch must be used with a 5th wheel rail kit and mounting hardware, which are sold separately.
The Curt 16055 has a gross load capacity of 25,000 lbs. trailer weight and 6,250 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than these ratings.
You must purchase a 5th wheel rail kit and mounting hardware separately. These are not included with the hitch. The rail kit provides the mounting structure on your truck bed to which the hitch attaches.
The kit includes 4 rail hairpins (part number CM-16115-RHP) and 4 rail mounting pins (part number CM-16115-RMP). These are used to secure the hitch to the mounting rails. Additional 1/2" reinforcement hardware is recommended but not included.
Yes, it is recommended that the mounting rails be reinforced through the center hole in the rails using 1/2" hardware before installing the hitch. This reinforcement hardware is not included and must be purchased separately.
1. Place the hitch into the mounting rails. 2. Insert the rail mounting pins (CM-16115-RMP) through the hitch and rails. 3. Secure the pins by installing the rail hairpins (CM-16115-RHP) as shown in the diagram.
Attach safety chains using the slots in the gooseneck plate. The hitch includes designated slots for this purpose.
You must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Although the Curt 16055 is rated for 25,000 lbs. trailer weight and 6,250 lbs. tongue weight, your vehicle's capacity may be lower. Always follow your vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
Periodically check the hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This regular inspection helps maintain safe operation and prevents component failure during towing.
Curt Manufacturing warrants the product to be free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. If defective, Curt will repair or replace the product at their option when returned prepaid with proof of purchase. The warranty is voided by alteration, misuse, or improper installation.
