The kit includes four socket head cap screws (1/2"-13), four lock washers (1/2"), and four hex nuts (1/2"). These are the only fasteners needed for installation. The manual specifies that only CURT supplied mounting hardware must be used.
The 48334 can be mounted on flat plates or bumpers, or on 2" or 2-1/2" shank-mounted plates. The mounting structure must be capable of supporting the rated pintle hook capacity in accordance with SAE J847.
You will need a ratchet, a 3/4" wrench, and a 3/8" hex socket. These are the only tools specified in the manual for installation.
Insert the four 1/2" socket head cap screws through the pintle and mounting plate from the front. On the back side of the mounting plate, secure each screw with a 1/2" lock washer and 1/2" hex nut. Torque all four fasteners to 100 ft-lbs.
Insert the four 1/2" socket head cap screws from the back side of the plate through the pintle. On the front side, secure each screw with a 1/2" lock washer and 1/2" hex nut. Torque all four fasteners to 100 ft-lbs.
All four 1/2" socket head cap screws must be torqued to 100 ft-lbs. This torque specification applies to both flat plate/bumper installations and shank-mounted plate installations.
Vehicle performance including braking, handling, acceleration, and turning radius can be drastically affected by towing a trailer. Allow additional time and space for stopping, changing lanes, passing, and turning. Do not tow more than one trailer at a time. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Avoid or drive slowly over severe bumps and rough terrain, as they can damage the towing system. Do not damage the latch when using the pintle mount, and be particularly careful with the drawbar when coupling and uncoupling.
Periodic inspection of the product should be performed to ensure all hardware and components remain secure. The manual does not specify inspection intervals or detailed maintenance procedures beyond this general guidance.
The 48334 is designed for flat plates, bumpers, or 2" and 2-1/2" shank-mounted plates. The mounting structure must support the rated pintle hook capacity per SAE J847. Check your vehicle's mounting surface type and consult the manufacturer for specific vehicle compatibility.

The installation is rated as "Easy" difficulty level. You will need a ratchet, 3/4" wrench, and 3/8" hex socket. No drilling, welding, or vehicle modifications are required.
Torque all four 1/2" socket head cap screws to 100 ft-lbs. Use only the specified CURT hardware and follow the torque specification to prevent damage.
The manual does not specify a maximum towing capacity. The mounting structure must be capable of supporting the rated pintle hook capacity per SAE J847, and you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
