Raise the hitch so side brackets are sandwiched between bumper brackets and frame rails; install M12 x 40 x 1.25 bolts and washers, finger tighten. 4. Loosely reinstall the four hex washer bolts removed in step 2. 5. Remove two existing hex washer bolts from one side of bumper bracket and bumper structure. 6. Insert two spacers between bumper bracket and bumper structure; reinstall bolts through bracket, spacer holes, and structure holes; finger tighten. 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other side. 8. Tighten all M12 fasteners to 105 Lb.-Ft. with a torque wrench.
Finger tighten all bolts first. The M12 x 40 x 1.25 bolts installed in step 3 are finger tightened, the four hex washer bolts in step 4 are loosely reinstalled, and the bolts in steps 6 and 7 are finger tightened. Only after all bolts are in place and finger tightened should you use a torque wrench to tighten all M12 fasteners to 105 Lb.-Ft.
Two spacers are inserted between the bumper bracket and the side of the bumper structure on each side of the vehicle. The existing hex washer bolts are then reinserted through the bumper bracket, the holes in the spacers, and the holes in the bumper structure. This is done on both sides in steps 5 and 6.
