Conical washers must be installed with the teeth side facing toward the hitch. This applies to both the 1/2 inch conical washers (part number 01292008) used with the carriage bolts and the 3/8 inch conical washers (part number 01292006) used with the M10 bolts.
Feed the carriage bolts and spacers using fishwire into the vehicle frame through the access hole in the hitch. Remove the fishwires and loosely install the conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and nuts. The fishwires are included in the fastener kit (part number 5482).
