After installing the carriage bolts and spacers into the frame, the pullwires are left attached and then used to guide the pullwire ends through the holes in the hitch bracket as the hitch is raised into position. The pullwires are removed before installing the conical washers and nuts.
The conical washers must be installed with the teeth side facing toward the hitch bracket. This orientation is critical for proper fastener function and load distribution.
The pullwire should be kinked to keep the spacer independent of the bolt during installation. This prevents the spacer from sliding along the bolt shaft and ensures proper positioning of the spacer within the frame before the hitch is raised into position.
