Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The 36643 is a Weight Carrying hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) of 3500 lb (1589 kg) and a maximum tongue weight of 350 lb (159 kg). However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The lowest capacity of any component in your towing system—gross trailer weight, tongue weight, trailer hitch, or vehicle—determines the maximum load you can safely carry or tow.
No. The 36643 is a Weight Carrying hitch only. Weight Distributing capacity is listed as N/A for this model.
The fastener kit 36643F includes: (2) carriage bolts 7/16''-14x1.5 GR5, (2) spacers 0.109 x 0.88 x 2.0 (part #1204), (2) conical washers 7/16'' (part #01292007), (2) hex nuts 7/16''-14 GR2, (2) pull wires 7/16'' (part #5481), and (4) M8 bolts 1.25 x 35 CL 9.8.
Yes. The authorized drawbar kit 36071 is sold separately and must be purchased if you need a drawbar. When installed, the drawbar must be used in the RISE position only.
Required tools include: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets (10 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 17 mm), 6'' socket extension, panel removal tool, exhaust removal pliers, drill, 1/2'' drill bit, marker, tin snips, utility knife, die grinder with cutting bit, and silicone sealant.
Yes, but only if you have a single exhaust model. For single exhaust models, you must remove the bottom appearance panel using a panel removal tool to remove 7 plastic rivets, a 10 mm socket to remove 1 screw from the front end on the driver side, and 10 and 12 mm sockets to loosen 5 plastic flange nuts underneath the trunk pan. For dual exhaust models, the panel does not need to be removed.
Yes. You must lower the exhaust muffler using exhaust removal pliers to remove rubber hangers at 3 locations. Be sure to support the exhaust before removing the rubber hangers. For dual exhaust models, you must also use a 12 mm socket to remove 4 factory M8 bolts from the exhaust hanger rod (2 per side), separate the hanger rod from the rubber hanger, and then remove the other rubber hangers at 3 locations. Return the 4 factory M8 bolts to the vehicle owner.
Yes. You must use a 1/2'' drill to enlarge the forward attachment hole on the driver's side if present. For both single and dual exhaust models, you must also drill a 1/2'' hole through the heat shield/frame on the passenger's side forward attachment using the hitch as a template. For dual exhaust models, you must drill a 1/2'' hole through the heat shield/frame on both sides forward attachment.
Yes. You must remove 2 flange nuts from the heat shield using a 10 mm socket (both sides for dual exhaust models) and trim the heat shield as shown in Figure 2, which indicates a 12.0'' trim dimension. For hybrid models, you must also remove and trim the sensor bracket by removing 1 flange nut from the sensor located on the passenger side using a 10 mm socket and trimming as shown in Figure 6.
Yes, but only for single exhaust models. You must trim the bottom appearance panel as shown in Figure 5, which indicates trim dimensions of 9.0'' and 7.0''.
Yes. You must use a die grinder with a cutting bit to enlarge the access holes to fit the head of the carriage bolt on both sides. The access holes are located on the frame as shown in Figures 1a and 1b.
All M8 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 25 Lb.-Ft. (34 N*M). Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
All M12 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M). Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
All 7/16'' fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M). Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
No. During installation, you must loosely install fasteners at several stages: loosely install M8 bolts into existing weldnuts on the driver side, loosely install the conical washer and hex nut onto the carriage bolt on both sides. Only after all components are positioned should you tighten all M8 fasteners to 25 Lb.-Ft. (34 N*M), M12 fasteners to 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M), and 7/16'' fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M) in Step 6.
The pull wire (part #5481) is used to install the carriage bolt and spacer into the frame rails to bracket holes on both sides. After installation, the pull wires must be removed before loosely installing the conical washer and hex nut onto the carriage bolt. The pull wire should be kinked to keep the spacer independent of the bolt during installation.
Yes, but only for single exhaust models. For single exhaust models, you must use a 12 mm socket to remove 2 factory M8 bolts from the driver side frame rails and return them to the vehicle owner. For dual exhaust models, you skip this step. You must also use a 17 mm socket to remove 2 factory M12 bolts from the tow hook on the passenger side and keep them for reinstallation.
Yes. Using a utility knife, you must remove caulk from the bottom of the frame near the rear mounting holes on both sides. If the seam is exposed after removing the caulk, you must reseal it with a thin layer of silicone sealant.
The conical washer (part #01292007) must be installed with the teeth side against the hitch. Install it loosely onto the carriage bolt after removing the pull wire, along with the hex nut, on both sides. The conical washer is then tightened to the final torque specification of 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M) for the 7/16'' fastener.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. Be sure to support the exhaust before removing rubber hangers. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch or ball.
After installation, check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Regularly check that all fasteners are tight and that the hitch is securely mounted to your vehicle.
