Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, the 65074 hitch is designed for 2014-Current Toyota 4Runner models. However, Cequent recommends visiting their website for the most up-to-date information regarding specific application years and trim levels, as fitment may vary.
The maximum winch line pull is 9,000 lb (4,086 kg). However, you must not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or this limit. Additionally, cargo capacity is limited to 500 lb (227 kg) or your truck's front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), whichever is lower.
You will need a ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, 14 mm socket, and 19 mm socket. Soapy water or a small wire brush is optional and recommended for cleaning threads before installation.
The Fastener Kit 65074F includes: (2) Hex bolts M12 x 1.25 x 40mm CL 10.9, and (2) Conical washers ½". The installation also reuses (2) existing lower flange bolts from the frame rail end.
The manual states that you must rotate the hitch as needed to maneuver between the fascia and the end of the frame rail during installation, but does not explicitly state whether the fascia must be removed. The appearance panel is noted as 'not shown' in the installation figures. Contact Cequent Technical Support at 800-632-3290 or TechnicalSupport@cequentgroup.com for clarification on your specific vehicle.
1. Remove the (2) lower flange bolts from the end of the frame rail on both sides (these will be reused). 2. Clean the threads by running M12 bolts into the existing weldnuts on the side of the frame rail to remove debris; use soapy water or a small wire brush if needed, then remove the bolts. 3. Raise the hitch into position and rotate as needed to maneuver between the fascia and frame rail end. 4. Install M12 bolts and conical washers loosely into the weldnuts on the outside of the frame rail on both sides. 5. Reinstall the M10 flange bolts removed in step 1 into the weldnuts on the end of the frame rail on both sides. 6. Tighten all M10 fasteners to 48 Lb.-Ft. (65 N·M) and all M12 CL 10.9 fasteners to 86 Lb.-Ft. (116 N·M) using a torque wrench.
All M12 CL 10.9 fasteners must be tightened to 86 Lb.-Ft. (116 N·M) using a torque wrench. Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
All M10 fasteners must be tightened to 48 Lb.-Ft. (65 N·M) using a torque wrench.
The conical washers must be installed with the teeth side against the hitch. This orientation is critical for proper fastener engagement and load distribution.
Yes. The (2) lower flange bolts removed from the end of the frame rail in Step 1 must be reused. These M10 bolts are reinstalled in Step 5 into the weldnuts on the end of the frame rail on both sides.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but recommends periodic inspection to ensure the hitch remains securely mounted to your vehicle.
Do not exceed 500 lb (227 kg) or your truck's front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), whichever is lower. Additionally, load the trailer heavier in front and do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or the hitch's 9,000 lb maximum winch line pull.
The average installation time for professional installers is 20 minutes. If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation on your own or are in need of assistance, Cequent recommends contacting a professional installer.
No. Do not cut, weld, or modify this receiver. Doing so may compromise the structural integrity and safety of the hitch and will void the warranty.
